[confused] Hi Everyone - haven't been in for awhile as we thought maybe I was almost ready so ease up on treatment - then BAM - relapse.

Don't know if I should be posting here or Medical.

2 issues - I am so frustrated - waffling between crying and being really angry! The Tygacil we started last week has me herxing and super nauseous. [puke]

I know treatment takes forever and we have to be patient but I've managed to keep my full time job, marriage and kids through the last 2 years of treatment and I just don't know how long I can keep it together. [bonk]

Just needing to connect I guess. Thanks for letting me rant. [group hug]

Hi Lenora! I'm so sorry things aren't going well!!

So, you never really stopped treatment?? Hmmm....can't figure out why you would relapse while on meds???

How long were you in treatment?

What is Tygacil?

Just hoping someone here can help out with your problems. We're here for ya! [group hug]

I have been in treatment now for going on 2 years and been on IV's + orals for 17 months.

Problem is I improve on a med for 5-6 months and then symptoms come back like an avalanche over a couple of days.

Last on Unisyn that stopped helping last week so we tried Vanco - can't tolerate that so we switched to Tygacil- which is a fairly new IV antibiotic.

Thank you for posting - I have the most wonderful supportive husband in the world, great family, great job (for now) - but when the lyme gets bad I get awfully lonely.

None of them have it or can really understand.

Have you been treated for co-infections or the cyst form of Bb ? Can definitely cause the relapse problems.

[hi] Sorry - couldn't read for a few days but appear to have turned a good corner over the weekend!

Your question about coinfections crossed my mind but I don't know nearly enough about them I guess. Was tested but negative for babs, bart & the "e" one (I can't spell it). Is testing for these as bad as for Lyme?

[confused]

On cysts - don't know which (if any) of my meds are effective against them. tried Flagyl and Mino once but could not tolerate either.

Just in case it might help anyone else this IV Tygacil is interesting.

Only major side effect so far is nausea but I've figured out if I eat every 2 hours it goes away.

The herx was ugly but appears to be subsiding 10 days after starting treatment. [woohoo]

The testing is terrible for them too! You really need to try a trial run of meds for babs, as the regular abx will NOT touch it and you can't kick the Lyme without babs treatment assuming you do have it.

I think NP40 is right on about the cyst busters too. Your intolerance for flagyl may be a sign you badly need it.

You probably herxed really hard on it. What was your reaction to it?? Many drs start patients out on too high a dosage of flagyl.

It's best to start out slowly and build up to the higher dosage. If that doesn't work, you can ask for plaquenil or tinidazole instead.

Very important!! We want you well!!
