Hi Everyone,
I'm mustering up what little energy I have at this point and going down to the Hope to Heal Lyme conference in a few weeks (yes, those of you who have been following my ongoing GI saga know I'm not doing well but I really wanted to make it to the conference). I realized there wasn't a post yet to find out who else from here is going!
So I was wondering who else might be going and it would be great to meet up at some point (last year I met a few people but it was pretty much hit or miss).
We could have a special "Lymenet Get Together" time or something - just an informal thing in the lobby at the hotel (I'm not staying at the conference hotel, though, but at a hotel a few minutes away so I'll have a kitchenette since I can't eat "normal" food). Just a thought.
Who else is going? I'd love to meet up with some of you sometime during the conference as long as I'm up to it!

Oh yay! I'll wait until we get closer and have more people (hopefully) who are going and then maybe start a little e-mail thing to try to set up a little meet-up (maybe for dinner one night? or just a little meet-up time in the lobby at the end of one day? the days are pretty packed with stuff).
So if you're going and feel comfortable posting your e-mail, please do so. If you'd rather e-mail me directly, you can e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll try to arrange some kind of little meet-up so we can meet face to face (it's always fun)!

I live in the area and plan to be there. I would love to meet everyone. As we get closer, let's set a time and place. I know there are other locals who are on lymenet and plan to be there. Looking forward to it.

That's what I love ahout this group - you are a real family - squabbles and all! Bruce, your comments sound like those of a normal guy, which I find refreshing in this abnormal world of disease. But then, I am a 50 something mom of a 20 year old girl, and I am used to watching young men's antics in trying to get her attention! It provides a sense of fun and normalcy for her, and for us. And we all need more of that in whatever form it presents itself!
Falls Church or Vienna metro stations are going to be the closest to Reston. And, as Annie said, the 505 bus will take you from Falls Church to Reston Town Center. I really can't wait to meet all of you!

Just a reminder that if you want to meet up and be e-mailed about all this, I need your e-mail address! Either e-mail me at [email protected] or leave your e-mail address here. It's too difficult for me to go around PMing everyone and there's no way to get your e-mail address from your profile anymore (since the changes on here).
Glad so many Lymenetters are going! Looking forward to meeting some of you!

You are all making plans for meeting and having dinner. Does that mean people can't go in the hopes of maybe making a friend? I hope not.
I wish I had some close friends with lyme. Not just friends that post on a message board that I've never met.
People go to conferences for many reasons. Many people go to conferences just to network and make social aquaintances. How else are like minded people to meet.
Bruce I'm hot! Very hot! But, I'm not in your age range. I'm 46. Too bad for you.

There are no plans already, one of the possibilities was just to go out to dinner since there isn't much space for us to really hang out and talk. Another option is to try to meet on Sat. morning before anything starts and sit together, but that would be much more difficult.
No plans have been made yet, though, and of course someone could just go in hopes of making a friend. I myself am not able to eat much of anything so going out to dinner wouldn't be for the food but for the company and conversation.

So far I have the e-mail addresses of:
OptiMisTick Henson Cindy Gail Robi
If anyone else is going and wants to get together while there, please e-mail me or post your e-mail address so I can add you to my e-mail list!
I'll send out some e-mails in a week or two to try to figure out where we should meet up and what we should plan on doing!

Hello Annie, I see that you are talking about this Hope to Heal conference. What is it? where is it? When is it? I have had Lyme for a long time (1990) but am new to this whole lyme web-info-support-chat-thing. I would really like to attend some informational conferences etc.
Thanks, Shawn

The conference is in Reston, VA on April 1 & 2, 2006. There is a line-up of great doctors to speak and the conference is set up for patients, not professionals, so the doctors speak to patient issues, concerns, and the like.
It's really a great thing and I recommend it if you can make it!
