Okay, all you walk-a-thoners! Time to do your thing for a great cause....

This one is being organized by the members of the Gumbo Ya-ya message board, a group that has formed around the books written by Rebecca Wells ("Divine Secrets of the Ya-ya Sisterhood"), who also suffers with Lyme disease.

These people (mostly ladies, but not all) don't want to just be a fan club. They are an action group, using their strength of numbers to back issues such as breast cancer, Katrina victims, and Lyme. I am extremely impressed by their willingness to rally to the aid of people they have never met.

So those of you who have wondered if we ever do anything, here's your chance to DO something. If you are too ill to walk, how about recruiting someone to walk on your behalf?

I'm also thinking you might want to wear something that identifies why you are walking when you walk, and perhaps get people to donate 10 cents a mile for each mile you walk that week.

Hope you are as inspired by this grass-roots effort as I am.

Regards,
Shaz

Hey, I like that idea!
Especially now that spring/summer is on it's way here.

Now is a good time to shake off Old Man winter's lethargy and get in some good 'ole exercise.

Speed doesn't matter. Just to get that blood moving around in your body, with some intrinsic pride in making each step toward your goal.

I've already signed up to participate in some kind of walk-a-thon where I will add up my miles with a team of college co-workers during a desinated slot of a few weeks.

I'd be happy to add my miles toward a cause for Lyme Disease as well, if there is such an event being organized. Please let us know!!

Hey Shaz - You beat me over here with the good news!

I'm so excited that there are others interested in supporting OUR 'cause' !!

This is a grass-roots effort -- so be patient -- and go over at the ya-ya site for details and 'check in' here or there - so we know you are willing to participate.

Thanks for posting this Shaz - and much more eloquently than what I would have done!

Hugs & [kiss]
