This is fun, I'll send it to my son's English teacher, they have been writing poetry.
My son, the math guy, wrote two sonnets that were A work. Never a dull moment with lyme and kids!

There once was a tick we'll call Lyme, who loved to climb off of his dime. One sunny day he was tempted and did stray, only to find something perplexing that kept him at bay. Beyond his surprise he lavished his find, a bright green, sumptuous leaf laden with a macrolide. Back to his dime he dragged back this great find. For days upon days he munched and he munched until he realized that something was giving him quite a punch. He rolled over on his back and fell off his dime thinking that he might go after another find. Only this time he couldn't be revived and thus no longer survived.

Debbi, That was wonderfully written. Please put a copyright on it with your name; you deserve credit for this my dear.
Also, please copy/paste it to Suzanne's post that I dscussed above. Would be another good fundraiser idea!
I don't mean to be a lame brain, but I don't seem to understand where you thought I should post this poem. Thus, I am unfamiliar with fundraising ideas regarding Suzanne's post.
Thank you for the compliment and I am so pleased that you enjoyed it.
