I've been really interested in Under Our Skin -- a documentary about Lyme that's currently in production.

I didn't realize until I was at their site the other day, though, that they have video clips of more in-depth profiles than just the video sample.

For me, one of these video clips has proved to be a powerful tool for helping my friends and family understand what I've been going through for the past few years.

There's a profile of a very brave young woman named Mandy who reminds me of myself when I was at my worst. This clip made me cry when I first watched it, because it took me back there and because, seeing this, I realized just how bad I had been...well, more or less.

My partner actually says I was worse than this on my worst days. And the truth is, my partner would know; nobody else ever saw me when I was this bad.

I've subsequently sent this clip to a number of people who have either asked me questions about my illness or seemed dismissive about what's been happening. I think it's so powerful to actually see what this disease can all look like...
And I'm not sure the quick cuts in the sample section really have the same impact for people outside the disease.

Of course, Mandy's isn't the only profile; there are about 5 other men and women at various stages of illness and/or recovery. She just happened to be the one who hit closest to home for me.

Since I've been sick, I've sometimes beaten up on myself about why I couldn't push harder, do more, get over it, shake it off. When I see this clip, I become much more patient with myself and compassionate toward the progress I have made. In a lot of ways, I understand that I've actually been very brave.

Seeing this segment, other people can have a glimpse of those worst times, too, and I think this helps raise their compassion.

The general link for the documentary production company is:
http://www.openeyepictures.com/underourskin/index.html

When you get there, click on sample profiles to view the longer individual pieces. And while you're there, send a donation to the company. More than words alone, these images can help bring a LOT of understanding and compassion about Lyme Disease.

Andie, thanks for mentioning it. I had seen the sample but not the sample characters, and they are powerful.

I really want to see these sample characters but every time I click on them I get the same clip---the basic video, not an in depth one.

What am I doing wrong? Anyone else having this problem?

Yep, I got it memorized too. [Big Grin]

I wrote to the contact person and told them what I was experiencing. Hopefully they will fix it soon!

Sorry to all those confused by what I wrote; I just went back to the site and realized I had the menu title wrong.

On Open Eye's home page (link above), there's a menu on the left. The third option down is Sample Characters. Clicking on that will bring up the four or five longer profiles.

The last menu option -- View Sample -- brings up the clip most of you are talking about.

Sample Characters.

I hope this helps and again apologize for the confusion.

No Confusion Andie, that's what I was/am doing...going to sample characters and clicking on the image...I still get the same video no matter what.

I think it is my browser....explorer. My partner tried it from work with Mozilla and it worked, but from home with explorer it just pulls up the same video, not the character videos.

Are the others that are having problems using explorer too?

I'm using Mozilla.

Good to see you, trails!

Hope your trip was a good one.
