i went to another LLMD last week that he doesnt agree with the low carb/sugar diet for Lyme patients. he told me i can eat whatever i want. i know in Dr B's guidlines he states no carbs/sugars, but why would other doctors have differing opinions about it?? has anyone gotten better without the diet?? does the sugar and carbs feed the spirocete? i am so confused [Frown]

Jack-

Think about it from your professional stand point. If you are on abx, sugar and carbs encourage yeast growth by killing good bacteria, right? Probiotics are recommended with abx treatment.

If you are taking diflucan, eating sugar and carbs still encourages yeast and the possible need for higher doses and longer treatment. Right?

Yeast symptoms can ne similar to TBI. If you reduce yeast thru diet it is more likely that your symptoms are TBI related and not from yeast.

Besides, a low sugar and carb diet is healthier and prevents wrinkles.

If you don't follow a good diet you will most likely be sorry. I've been off abx for 8 mo and I still am fighting the yeast.

The above quote is another very good reason to follow a good diet. If you don't, you won't know if you're "well" since lyme symptoms are so similar to yeast symptoms.

Your dr needs to wake up!!

It seems that with Lyme you get different advice every time you turn around.

I found that a no sugar and no processed no white flour diet helped me with pain and inflammation control long before I found out that Lyme was my problem.

I do believe it helps control yeast- I haven't had any yeast issues (knock on wood).

I also believe it is just a healthier way to live and eat.

It may seem hard at first but you do adjust and their are alternative out there if you need sweets. I use stevia in my plain yogurt or in baking my flaxseed muffins.
