Thanks for your coverage of the Lyme disease controversy.
Those of us who are patients know that the ''scientific literature'' refuting the efficacy of open-ended antibiotic treatment consists of one flawed three-month study out of Boston University.
We also know that Lyme has brought us debilitating, painful, crippling symptoms that abate with antibiotic treatment and return, with a vengeance, when the treatment is discontinued.
To withhold medication, subjecting us to crippling pain and mental confusion, simply on lack of proof that we still harbor living spirochetes, is cruel and heartless. Bob Morgenstern Brooklyn, N.Y.

Wow! This is really a great letter! I think some of us are familiar with Bob and his very articulate and reasoning brain. Bravo, Bob!

At least they printed a few opposing opinion letters. Martha's Vineyard Times did not do as well. Seems like these newspapers for smaller communities would be closer to their readers and might better reflect the truth, but that is apparently not the case. Hard to imagine that the editors don't know a lot of people with lyme disease.

I know Bob. Way to go!
He used to come to a support group I attended years ago.
