My LLMD started me on Augmenten while I was awaiting the resuluts of my WB test. When it came back positive, he switched me to Levoquin, which I have been on for 2.5 weeks. No herx up to this point. I just started IV Rocephin 6 days ago (only for the first 4 days of those 6)...today I feel worse than I have in awhile. Very tired, "big head" feeling, groggy/foggy, and very depressed. None of this is new (these are my main symptoms), but seems worse today than usual. This despite that I slept pretty good last night for once. Could this be a delayed herx from the Rocephin? 6 days after starting??
Thanks
Greg

g-mon,

People can herx at all different times. Everyone's case is unique. If I were to guess, I would say that it is certainly possible you are experiencing a herx from the rocephin. Or, maybe from the oral antibiotics that you started, what, about four weeks ago?

It's always best to discuss any change in symptoms with your doc, though.

Are you new to the board? Welcome [Smile]

We get a "monthly" kind of herx too. Every 3-5 wks you will herx no matter what med you're on.

As you go through treatment the monthly herxes are not as pronounced. Hope you're feeling better today! [Smile]

Nah youre ok, theres no such thing as a delayed herx. You're herx on your own time frame.

NOT ALL PEOPLE HERX. Some don't herx at all, ever, no matter what med they are on, or how long on it.

I know a few of those non herxers. and they got better as well.

Thanks for the replies [Smile] My symptoms are so up and down all the time it is REALLY difficult to tell if I am herxing or if it is just my usual up and down Lyme self. I'm so confused...I don't know if I am getting better, worse, or staying the same. I guess I have just barely started treatment (just 4 or 5 weeks), so maybe it is too early to tell if I am getting better.

from what I have read on the net over the last year, herxing usually happens at apx 3 to 6 week intervals ca vary person to person

feeling bad followed by feeling better or in my case I felt much better for 8 weeks then had a really bad herx for 6 weeks (last fall)

was self treating at this point with the help of a open minded PA I printed out key articals on lyme He read them.(got diagnosed first of may 06)

A theroey on hexing is: the life cycle of the various tick bacterias may be 3 to 5 weeks and when they are live the meds kill them toxic dye off can = a herx

A few weeks not as many active bacteria, not as many to dye off, so feel a little better.

And as mentioned some may not herx, or be so mild they arnt aware of it. Later Bruce

This sounds like me. I am on Levaquinand Doxy. My Herx's feel like little "storms" in me and I get that horrible werird put upon depression. I also get herpes with it. My Herx's seem to be every three weeks with Doxy and only abate for a day or two...now I feel like my body is kind of "freaking" out, like a cartoon when steam comes out the person's ears cause there is so much activity. Spoke to my LLMD and he said this was a herx. Now I just try and get through all of it and know I will be better.
