I have searched all day for any media coverage of the Lyme Rights Rally. I combed through today's edition of The Hartford Courant and could not find ANYthing about the rally yesterday.
Interestingly enough however, I did find an article about a man who is battling MS and planning to ride his bicycle in a 'Tour for the Cure.'
Why nothing in the states largest newspaper about the states biggest health threat? Perhaps they have received so much information about Lyme that it will take a couple days to get a whopper of an article out? I am an optimist and I hope that's the case....
I did see the Fox News at 10pm (channel 61 in Hartford) last night and they had a nice clip about the rally. Showed a few signs, talked to a few people and they even reiterated at the end how damaging lyme can be if not treated early.
NBC 30 had a very brief (so brief I thought they were going to show the full story later) newsclip which was hardly useful.
For you folks who were able to go, did you see many reps from the local media? Hopefully there will be more coverage next time.

No idea why not! I asked the organizers if I could help with contacting media many times, could not understand why they were not there! We need a BIG rally, with thousands of people! And all media! Grrr!!!!

I saw at least 2 TV outfits, one radio person, and one reporter. And that's just what I saw. And the reporter seemed to stay for most of it.

Maybe for the next rally, there should be weeks of pestering the local media prior to the event. Like that old saying... "the squeaky wheel gets the oil"
I'd be willing to send out daily emails to reporters with a rally countdown to get their attention and maybe even 'tick' them off enough to attend!
- 7 days until you see what a little 'bug' bite can do to a perfectly healthy person...
- 6 days until you see how our healthcare system is failing sick neighbors...
- 5 days until you hear about all the weird symptoms lyme patients have to suffer with...
- 4 days until you will realize how devastating lyme disease can be if not treated...
- 3 days until you see how little your own physician knows about lyme disease...
- 2 days until all of the local faces of lyme are introduced to you...
- 1 day until the truth is told...

Just a thought. The word HAS to get out there!

That's a fabulous countdown. We are going to get better and better at rallying and getting the media. We have to remember all these things for the next one.
Dr. B. said in order to bring change we: Need public outcry Need to give elected officials guidance Need to make sure they actually make the changes Need to support ILADS Need to support Dr. J. and other LLMDs
