I live near Ft. Lauderdale, in FL, this is my fourth relapse in 18 years and there does not seem to be a support group in the area (I moved from NY two years ago). I would like to know if there are people in Miami-Dade, Broward and or West Palm Counties that would be interested in a support group...I have experience running them and would be willing to do so, so please if your interested contact me . 4lyme [group hug]

4lyme ~

I'm in Palm Beach county, I've been stranded here for 9 years with no support. I have co-run a group before. Can we do this pretty please?

Weston is about 45 minutes from me, we could find an easy middle ground, I'm sure and/or I can make the drive most times.

I'll PM you, too. I've been asking anyone close to have group with me for over a year and just got tired of asking.

[woohoo]

4Lyme & Trueblue...I live in Tampa and after reading a lot on Lyme, I believe I have it, but cannot get a doc to run the proper tests, etc. Do you see docs in FL? If so, can you give me names ([email protected])? Also, since 4Lyme is from Weston...does the Cleveland Clinic have anyone there who specializes in Lyme? I go to CC in Weston every 6 months for my hubby who has a heart problem, so I'd love to join your group, if people like me (undiagnosed) can attend. THANKS.

Hi mariv,
We haven't got anything set up yet. But I'm sure you're more than welcome once we get rolling.

I am excited about the prospect as we have no support in this part of the state at all.

(As far as the Cleveland Clinic goes. I doubt there's anyone there that would be of any use but perhaps someone else knows more than I. I've never heard of anyone going there to treat Lyme and co-infections and I would have in 9 years living here.)

I think a better idea I think, if you haven't already, would be to post in the "Seeking a Doctor" section of this forum. You can ask for recommmendations for Lyme Literate doc's in both areas. You can also post and ask if anyone has experience with the Cleveland Clinic (but I'm not optomistic about that).

Good luck and look forward to meeting you,
trueblue

hee hee hee, I don't do Miami either.

I haven't heard back from 4lyme, yet, but maybe we can get this thing off the ground sooner or later, regardless.

I'm in Delray; anyone have an idea of a good middle ground? We can start planning from there.

It looks like we've got Weston, Delray, Boca, Wellington, a visitor to Weston and a possible Orlandoite that may or may not be crazy enough to make the drive.

Now, I've been stuck in FL for 9 years with barely a shred of support so suddenly a 3 hour drive each way doesn't sound so bad, ha. Actually, I can do about an hour.

What do you think, kids? [hi]

this is 4Lyme checking in. I was in the hospital for two weeks with complications from Resperitoyr and digfestive problems . I got out on Friday, still not feeling terrific. I am dedicated to trying to get this group started. So lets start like this, I live in Weston, while many of you may not know where it is it is an easy 10 minutes from The Tpk, 75, 595 and the Sawgrass. I would welcome you in my home. If we agree on the place ( if the location doesn't work for enough of you we will find and alternative. If the location does work and will throw out some possible dates. When you respond to this email let me knwo if the place is ok and geran times, i.e. during the day, during the week at night early evening on week-ends, etc and I will try to come up witrh a majority wish. Looking forward to meeting you soon. Pauline

Hi Pauline,
I'm sorry to hear you were in the hospital. I was hoping you were of on vacation somewhere having a great time. That's a crappy vacation. [Frown]

I can get myself to Weston, no problem, it's about a 45 minute drive from here but all easy highway driving. As for times... I'm easy, I am not working so I'm pretty flexible.

We could try your place and if it seems too far for everyone pick a middle ground later on.

I believe I have a doctor's appointment on 7/31, otherwise my calendar's pretty open. [Wink]

I hope you are feeling considerably better soon.
