I'm real new at this and trying to understand. Why are the LLMD's being harassed and persecuted by the powers that be?
I have ZERO problem going to the pain specialist and getting pain relief. If I had heart trouble, I'd have ZERO trouble getting heart medicine...but it seems people who are suffering chronic pain and misery with Lyme are being harnessed with another problem: Doctors who aren't being respected for the work they do.
Any takers? I'm totally confused by this..

That is the Sixty-Four Thousand Dollar Question!!!
Why indeed. Why are LLMD's persecuted when they are only trying to uphold the hypocratic oath they were sworn to uphold? Why are the doctor's facing medical boards who are trying to "determine" if they are treating lyme patients "properly"?
Alot of the problem as I see it, is that the CDC's criteria of "how to diagnose" lyme disease, is too narrow a description, and doctors, medical boards, insurance companies, etc., are misinterpreting CDC guidelines!!!
Also, the IDSA is causing a lot of problems as well as the Steere camp, who are trying to downplay the role of lyme disease in patients.
Ever read the book "Lab 257?" Its a good read, very well researched, and tells a whole lot about the lyme continuum, so to speak.
Or you can read my book, "The Singing Forest, A Journey Through Lyme Disease", if you want to see the true story of how lyme patients and their families are treated in the community....
Anyway, there is a serious lack of respect for lyme patients and their illnesses, and the doctor's are being squashed because medical insurance companies don't want to pay for the tremendous costs of treating lyme patients.
Also, dare I say there are other motivating factors out there that also cause the dissemination of WRONG lyme literature, adding further confusion and disrespect to our already overburdened psyches.
At any rate, the tides are slowly turning, patients are protesting, doctors are becoming bolder, and the laws are slowly changing.
But in the meantime, it remains a difficult fight.
Does that help? Toodles
