I give up!! i found a tick on my 6 y/o son today July 14. He was playing outside for about half an hour. It was not embedded thank goodness. I looked everywhere and I couldn't find any marks where he may have scratched it off. He did the tick alert alarm - the "I am going to die MOM" scream - oh my poor babies!!! I want to go live in the desert!

I FORGOT to spray him this morning!! Bad MOM!

His sister (has Lyme) has had TWO on her since May. She DID have repellent on her both times!! One was crawling across her head and the other was on her arm. She was hysterical both times.

And this is in the Midwest in a "non-endemic area". Bull ####! I can only imagine how many ticks I had during childhoood and never knew they were on me because we didn't know to check. Or how many times before my diagnosis did I and my family get bitten because we didn't know to look for ticks and we didn't know about Lyme here.

Ho hum. [Frown] Our lives will never be the same.

Boy, I'm REALLY sorry to hear this!! I know it's frightening! I had finally gotten off abx on Nov '04 after 4 1/2 yrs on them...

Then 4 months later found a tick attached to my hip!!

I nearly freaked!! Long story made short...I've been off abx again now since SEpt '05.

Do you have some abx for your son....or do you think he didn't get bit??

Hi snowflake
I am so Sorry to hear about this. Very scary. [Eek!]

Recently I found a tick on my legg. Totally freaked out. I had just gotten off of 3 years of intensive abx and on 4 months off. absolute panic set in. Followed by depression and the need to move to the desert or city.

The people here where so kind. I have listed the link at the bottom for some suggestions and some cheer for you.

I had some doxy around and could only stomach 4 days. I figure it was better than nothing.

Also ran across several articles that said if you get a coulpe doses of doxy in within the first 8 hours it can cut your chances down. Can't find where I read this so don't qoute me on it.

Don't beat yourself up. Ticks a very tricky devils.

Hang in there
