I just had to throw this out their b/c I am hoping that someone can relate. Today, I went to a funeral and saw some friends who I had not seen in three years. Three years ago, I was three year into to my once mysterious illness. My ex-hubby convinced all that I was a hypochondriac and not ill. So, today when I saw these folks I felt pride as I could definitely say I have LD.
The pathetic part was that my legs are not cooperating now and I had the slow, limping walk. I was just glad that I now have some visable signs that would prove that I am not a faker! I did not even care that I looked like a dork! This is really sad that I would delight in this . . . but hey this is what this junk does to us, right? Or perhaps this is yet another LD neuro. symptom?

I participated recently in our church's vacation bible school,so of course at the end of the week we had to have a group picture of the three adults with all the preschoolers-and I look soooo pathetic.
Everybody is smiling and then there's me looking like I had a stroke. It is not as dramatic as that in real life, but i definitely look like there are some marbles missing.
Someitmes i will be feeling miserable though and people will tell me how well I am looking. Sometimes I just want to answer but I feel like , like- cow patties.

sorry to hear you are having limping and walking problems and hope you can feel better soon.
Having lyme is like for many of us is like having an invisiable disability. I don't think it is pathedic that you have outside signs now that show how much your are suffering. Sometimes without these it is hard for people to understand.
Many lyme patinets, myself included, never really looked that sick over the years. And I did get the "how can you be sick if you look so well" used to drive me crazy.
Just wanted you to know I understand how frustrateing it is when you are not believed on how you look.

Boy oh boy oh boy.. that IS a good feeling.. isn't it. To finally know what in the world is wrong with you.. and know you aren't sitting in limbo and can do something about it... and to know you aren't the only fruitcake in the world is a comforting feeling.
Plus it shows what a duckhead that ex of yours was.
