Wow I can't imagine being on steroids that long. I was on pretisone for three days and thought I was going to have a heart attack. It made me crazy hyped up and wired. I only took it to help with a severe allergic reaction I had to an IV drug. I will never take steroids again if I can help it. They are just horrible. I was reading something recently about the adrenal glands and how they stop producing hormones correctly when you take steroids. You may want to ask your doctor about that.

Great news Kit! Remember, you can always ask your doctor for pain meds if you don't have them. If your doctor won't prescribe them, then find a doctor who will.
If you have pain, there are many ways to control the pain. And if the pain is real, managed pain treatment should not be addictive.

That's great Kit! Just to let you know I was on steroids for about 7 months and it masked the pain for me most days too. After getting off and getting on abx. I was better in about 6 months. I did have to use some ibuprofen )and sometimes I still do) to get me through the pain.
Hope all goes well for you too! Nut

Steroids made me wired and hyped up when I first starting taking them too. Now I am getting fatigued again coming off of them. Oh well.
Prednisone makes your adrenal gland stop producing hormones while you are taking it. That is the reason for the slow taper so your body will start producing it again on its own.
I am going to try for at least a month to not take anything besides my abx and other vitamins. I want to be able to journal all my symptoms..steroid free...before my next LLMD appt.
