There are many of you who know Gary and I truly hope he doesn't kill me for this.....but,

Gary is having knee replacement surgery on Thursday the 17th.

As many of you know Gary has had many obstacles in his journey with lyme and rsd.

He means a great deal to me and I want all of the well wishes that can possibly be posted for him.

Gary, my heart aches for your pain and the struggle you will endure over the next few weeks, but know in your heart I will keep you in my prayers and keep in touch with you throughout.

You have been such a true dear friend to not only myself, but to many on this board. I just wanted them to know and give you 'happy support'.

Our history together,
and our continuing friendship,
will remain forever.

Good luck and my heart and thoughts will be with you. Diane

Gary, I remember many pms we had when I came here 2 yrs. ago about your knee, lyme, etc.

I wandered what had happend to you since I've not seen you post in many months! Now I know why ... your special friend above has kept you out of trouble! Well, almost?!

Wishing you SUCCESS in relieving the pain you've had with this knee and to a successful relationship you have with Diane. [group hug] [kiss]

PS -- Diane, glad you snitched on Gary. We had many lively conversations.

Gary,

Ditto, ditto, ditto and ditto --- plus I hope it will make a great difference in how you feel and how you get around.

I know quite a few people who are doing great after knee replacement.

Hope you will too.

Gary,
Good luck with the surgery and the recuperation.

I'd like to give a special thanks to Bea Seibert for her assistance in making phone calls to MDL, on behalf of Gary. Thanks Bea, I know you were busy with your husband's medical stuff, and the broken air conditioning.

Best wishes,
Carol

Rootin for you, Geden.

I know how much agony you've gone through.

If some dull-minded duck rolls his eyes at the word 'lyme,' throw something at em for me, please.

I'll be thinking of you.

Several of my friends have had great success with knee replacements. The first week was tough for them (but things are already tough for you). After getting through that they said it was miraculous how much better they felt after years of pain.

So spend an another week in la la land and then hopefully you'll be seeing a big improvement.

update........i went in yesterday morning for the knee replacement.when the orthopeadist saw the kit from mdl,he got real concerned about operating on me.his concern was for an active infection..lyme.

so,instead of the knee replacement,he did the tissue biopsy and and the other proceedure's for the mdl kit.

i was home by late afternoon.does anyone know how long it take's for my test result's to come back??if positive,i will have proof of infection.then proper treatment with abx.if not((??)),i will go ahead with the surgery...

just that taking the abx, instead of surgery,i will have to keep jacking up my painkiller doseage.who know's how far that will go.i do have a pain management doc..

anyway,if someone could answer how long it take'sfor result's , i will be very greatfull..

again, thank all of you for the good wish'es.i will keep them in my winter coat. be well , gary

It took a good 2 weeks to get a biopsy resuly back from MDL

I hope you can get yours sooner.

you could call them & ask how long it will be.

Gee, an orthopedist that must have 'some' understanding of 'lyme' disease, even tho mostly missguided. My ortho doc after I found out what was really wrong with ME said " Well no wonder, but it wouldnt be MY area to catch this, that would be a general MD not ME!!".

Hope yours is enough lyme literate to get you a new knee, its done all the time I suspect!!! Think of all the people that get one that dont know they have it!!

Do you have an LLMD that could reassure him to either do it or NOT do it?? Based on real LLMD experience.??? Sounds like you are getting the quack run around. My two cents worth from --just don)

Gary,

Generally 2 weeks minimum for test results from MDL. I called lab for hubby yesterday and his results should be ready Monday -- his endoscopy was 2 weeks ago today -- the lab got the kit on a Saturday.

Hope you get some relief soon.
