how do you really know whether you are herxing or is your lyme disease just getting worse? i couldn't even get out of bed the past 2 days although i have been doing coffee enemas and i think they are possibly why i feel so awful. has anyone tried doing coffee enemas and do you notice feeling worse afterwards?

Years ago, long before he acquired Lyme Disease, Virgil used coffee enemas and it left him totally wiped out.

And when his Mom used them it drained her completely. So our experience withthem has not left us desiring to try again!

Make sure the coffee is organic or you could be adding more toxins than you are trying to flush out. I think we used distilled water as well.

Hubby tried these about 5 years ago when he first got sick, but was undiagnosed. If I remember correctly the first couple of times he was very tired and had to sleep for several hours after the enema.

Then the next couple of times they made him feel better. The next 10 or 12 seemed to have very little effect at all so we stopped.

He could never hold the enema for more than 5 minutes or so. We just divided up the coffee into 2 or 3 smaller quantities and he held each amount in as long as he could so in total he held it in for maybe 15 minutes.

As with any other treatment, my advice is if you don't notice an improvement in a short period of time, I would move on to something else. You can always retry this later. Sometimes it is just not the right time for something and other times there are just some treatments that you either can't tolerate or just do not provide the expected benefits. Trial and error is the name of the game unfortunately.
