HI all~
I had filed a complaint with our state insurance commission recently regarding the incomplete payment of my Columbia bill with Dr. F.
My insurance company ended up paying the entire bill (like they should have).
I then wrote another letter regarding how my insurance was covering my vancomycin for the C. diff, and IM bicillin for the lyme.
It looks like they will be paying the ENTIRE amounts for these drugs. (They had been paying about 10% of the vanco and 20% of the bicillin).
The 27 letters today were acknowledgement of claims that the prescription end of the company sent to the main part of the company.
All this is to say...if you don't think you are getting your just reimbursement from the insurance company; AND if you are getting the run around from them (like I had been). ONE letter to your state insurance commission can get a really good response.
Timaca ps...maybe I'll buy a lottery ticket with my refund...win...and donate it all to Columbia!

Congrats Timaca, my hero! Way to go, and thanks for sharing all your tidbits of info with us all. I'll print this & other info off tomorrow during normal hours for my APPEALS file I'm starting for my BCBS denial verbally given to me Thurs. Bettyg

And thank you for such encouraging news. It's heartening to hear that you can get results if you try to slay the insurance dragon. Or at least get it to pay what is due.

That's great! And that gives hope to those of us having trouble getting things covered. I'll keep this in mind if my insurance company gives me a hard time with my IV antibiotics this fall.

Way to go timaca. The Insurance Commissioner is very lax in the state I live in..it's a joke to be quite frank.
One thing everyone needs to keep in mind is if your employer offers a plan and they're self insured meaning it's not a group plan and they write there own policy, you must sue the employer if they deny your appeal. The IC will not get involved in these cases due to no jurisdiction to do anything.
Just thought I'd pass this tidbit along.
