I'm new to the site, this will actually be my first post (finally able to jump on in since I have something to talk about.) I'm not new to Lyme though. Have had it for about six years, been treating it for two years.

A long-distance friend who used to be not so distant (before I knew about my Lyme) let me go to her place in Texas last week. I live on the East Coast so I don't have to tell you what a stretch it was just getting there by plane.

I had a lot of must-do's since I've never been to Texas. Thus I was taken to the Alamo and went shopping with her and her sister. Basically I wore myself out. For about three out of the five days I was there. I don't have to tell you what I feel like now but to sum up: pretty darn miserable. I'm starting to wonder exactly how long it's going to be before I'm feeling back to my normal glumness.

One question: While I was there I slept pretty well except my last night. My combo of meds usually makes me sleepy sometimes so fast I need a place to crash within minutes, seconds. That night I felt my usual sleepiness but then I had a fierce headache, heart palpatations (could hear it pounding), and a ringing in my ears.

I take trazedon (sp?) and klonapin (sp?) to get myself down and I've heard of heart stuff with the traz' but this was a first. I'm really tentative with it now and I just take my klonapin and some benedryl. Anyone know if that's a herx? Weird medicine senstivity or something?

Would really appreciate some feedback. [Smile] Thanks guys!

Hmmm...wish you had asked this in Medical where you would get many more responses.

I would call your dr Monday and ask. Have you been taking the combination of Klonopin and Traz together for quite some time....with no problems??

I take Trazodone myself, but only occassionally have a jumpy heart or palps at night.
I usually have them anyway, so it doesn't scare me too bad.

I would call the dr though, OK??

Where did you stay in Texas? San Antonio area or Austin?? Maybe the heat got to you more than you think. That could affect your heart bigtime.

I used to live in San Antonio and have also lived in New Braunfels. Did you go to the cave there? Texas is great, but I don't like to visit in AUGUST!!! [Eek!] Sometimes we don't have a choice about it either!!

Hi,
The heat here in Texas is exhausting, especially with the recent heat wave. I have been limiing my time out to just a few minutes a day, even in the evening when it is supposedly cooler.

I have to drink lots of water(10 glasses at least) and take plenty of minerals or I get palpitations and a fast heart rate.

The palpitations could be due to a lot of things: loss of electrolytes from sweat in the heat, or the medications you mentioned...
Rest and I hope you feel better.

I second the advice to call your doctor first thing Monday. I wish I new something more to share.

I'm off to McAllen on Wednesday for work. I'm not looking forward to the heat, but I should be spending most of my time inside or in a car.
