I'm having a lot of problems doing math, and other logical work. Yesterday I did a payroll which looked correct and logical at the time, but was WAY off. Luckily, the mistake was found out. My boss (husband) can't understand that I can't do any better---he thinks if I take more time, or work more carefully, I will catch my mistakes. The mistakes always make sense to me at the time. Does anyone have this problem, or am I really as careless as my husbands thinks? I used to be reasonably intelligent, but I feel really stupid.
I've never had any neuro testing, for cost reasons---why test for it if you can't do anything about it--but I wonder if I should test to validate myself, or if I should just dig in and try harder.
Any wise advise?

My daughter who has lyme went through a period of time where in her words "my math brain is stuck on off"
Improving with abx.
Hopefully some others will come along who have had similar challenges with work.

yup i have this too.
I am an accountant.....pre lyme had a great mind...very sharp....could remember anything.
Post lyme at work, had to write things down, was in a fog, took longer to do simple calculations.
Im out on disability now and struggle with remember to pay bills, even though I have many reminders.
Just go easy on yourself.

Oh boy,this sounds familiar. Yes,it is one of the delightful(not) added features w/ Lyme.
I had to quit helping the all stars math group at school because of Lyme Brain=No math Brain.The kids started looking at me like How did she get here,I didn't even know how I got to their room some days...looking back on the senario.
I felt like a bouncing ball at the bank,finally gave it all over to the hubby
After 2 plus years of treatment,well I'm trying to catch up on paperwork,taxes and tutoring algebra.I would love Mission Organization to arrive and get my home back to pre-Lyme days!
Hang in there,it can be so frustrating,but you will get better.Try doing simple puzzle games,word,matching,etc.It's OK to veg out too,that's all we can do some days, until the brain ,body,soul reconnect.

Me thinks you might be ready for something positive...
How about looking into coping strategies that people with learning disablilities use to perform these type of tasks.
There is a lot of info out there.
I am starting to use a highlighter, for example, when I am looking up a number in the phone book because I otherwise keep losing it and end up looking for it like 3x.
Also, dragging my finger along paper or computer screen to keep place.
I am a special ed teacher and it took me a long time to get the idea to put these helps into place.
Also there are watches in ADD catalogues that can be set to beep during the day and screen tell you what you are supposed to be do at that time.
It does get better with treatment-come to think of it-it could be a herx-maybe go down on dose for a while?

When you get well, your math skills will improve. The return of mental sharpness was my biggest clue I was getting better.
I have found some really bad errors on tax returns from the"sick years", like no clue where the numbers came from, they don't match the books. I did have the right number of kids though!
