My LLMD has recommended bicillin injections and has written me a script for 6 shots (1 per week at 2400 mu). My local doctor phoned in the order and said that I could pick it up at the pharmacy. I went to the pharmacy when they called and was told that it would be $560.00. Is bicillin really this expensive? I thought I remembered a post on here awhile ago that said you could get 10 shots at Wal-mart for around $50. Maybe I am remembering wrong.

Even though my script is only for 6 shots my LLMD will extend it indefinitely if it seems to be helping. As I am paying for this myself I wanted to find out if anyone else is paying this much.

Also, could someone who is involved or knowledgeable about the LLMD request forum please send me a PM. Thanks.

Jeff

Bicillin is expensive, but this price sounds high. My pharmacy receipt dated July shows a price of $444.39 for one box of 10 syringes of 1.2mu/2ml.

It is possible that the price has gone up, but you might do well to shop around.

The best price (best being relative, it's still horribly expensive!!) I've paid is $466.80 for a box of 10 for the 1.2 million units.

Bicillin -LA (the long acting version) does come in varying doses: 600,000 units, 1.2 million units, and 2.4 million units, so that could account for some price differences.

One time, a pharmacy was going to charge me more than the 466.80, but when I showed my receipt from a different pharmacy, they matched the price.

Be thankful you can get it at all - it's very hard to obtain.

Jill

Mine is $396 for a box of ten 1.2 mu syringes. Your six 2.4 mu would equal twelve of mine, so the price might be a little high, but not terrible. The $50 price you heard might have been the co-pay someone was paying. Until I hit the doughnut hole in Medicare D, my co-pay was $28 a month.

Or, they might be importing it.
