Hi all
I started taking a plant supplement about ten days ago called rhodiola. I googled it after reading about it - I don't have the web address but there's a very good paper on it that's 23 pages long. I took it in part for the mental and physical claims, but I'm finding right off that it's really helping with depression. I've been unable to take medication because of the side effects. Caution: the first ones I took were 500mg - then I found some 100mg, which I tolerate well. They're made by New Chapter in VT. Cost on sale was $8 per 30 caps. www.newchapter.info
You should look for rhodiola that's made from Siberian plants, take one cap in the morning after breakfast.

I havent taken it since vacation because when i got back I was sick from 12th to17th and still weak,And yesterday I started aching in shoulders and today all over herx has landed and its on time .
Bummer

Now back to Rhodiola rosea: when I started taking it I noticed immediatley that I started dreaming more and vivid like I use to and I also had a few erotic dreams which hasnt happened in years anyway I noticed a week or so later that I was a lot calmer and focused which surprized me and when I would be about ready to lose it and yell at somebody I would catch myself and calm right down it also seem to lower Bp some it deffinatly a good herbal suppliment. I am going to start back up tommorrow again just been so sick lately I forgot it I only took mine once a day also.

The funny thing is that I started taking it because it was supposed to be good for neuro symptoms, which actually haven't been too bad lately. Then I read it's good for heart, stamina, and I forget what else. So it surprised me when I felt much more cheerful. If you do take it, make sure you take it with breakfast, no later, as it does tend to keep you wide awake - not in a jittery way, just not sleepy. I haven't had any stomach problems on it - which is more than I can say for that awful Zoloft. And make sure you only take 100mg. The first bottle I bought was 500mg which, in reading, says is too much.

I got mine at the Brattleboro Food Co-op in Vermont. As I noted in initial posting above, the company has a website. After reading all 23 pages of that paper on rhodiola, it's important to make sure what you get is 100mg, and made with Siberian rhodiola.
