Hi,
I am back from summer of '05. Up, down, desperate, depressed, confused, broke...

Like some of you, I have no support, no partner, can barely work, financially broke due to whatever illness I have. LYME, MS, CFS, Fibromyalgia, Toxoplasmosis...

How does one even begin to get proper dx and rx if we can't afford to go to a LLMD at this time and only has coverage for non LLMD's ?? If only I could get some good work hours in for a couple of months...maybe I could afford the 600.00-800.00 visit...which doesnt include rx. How have some of you coped with this dilemna?

So I'm guessing you didn't go to an LLMD in the summer of 2005, which is why you are not on the road to recovery now?

I don't know which is more difficult-untreated Lyme or the treatment for Lyme.

As for me-I'm trying to figure out how to get admitted to the local nuthouse(but only if they will allow me internet access) where somebody can take care of me-meals, a bed, a shoulder to cry on.

I've got to be out of this house by beginning of Dec., no job, no disability payments yet-still pending, plan to call LLMD to explain I can't pay for office visits at this time, yada yada-

Trust me-desperate times call for desperate measures-and I heard someone today talk about how they got drunk and threatened to kill themselves-so they were taken to the local ER, where a reservation was made at a first class nuthouse for them-they turned down the offer. [bonk]

Sure sounds like a plan to me.

it is really a horrible situation to be in. Are you sure all the LLMD's are charging that much? Usually that is for the first appointment only. follow ups are usually cheaper. but nothing is cheap when you are alone and sick.

Hopefully someone can offer some other LLMD who doesnt charge that much for initial visit.
[confused]
Have you looked into a credit card that doesnt have any interest on charges for a few months? I paid for a surgery this way. Sounds like you should get on the waiting list and figure out the finances after---some of the waiting lists are LONG. IN the meantime---open those credit card apps and start looking for one that doesnt charge interest.

good luck,
trails

I hear what your saying..I thought i'd sell my condo and seek out a homeless shelter, and adopt a new supportive family...

I posted on another thread...have a little bit left on one of my CC's so am going to be tested at Igenex. At least it's a start.

Does your state offer "charity care" state insurance.

NJ has it and it's great, it for low income familys.

You dont have any insurance not even for prescriptions?

If not there are different needy med programs.

If you could find a dr that was more affordable .. would it be doable?

I think there are 3 llmds in nj. (sorry I cant remember hearing about anyone in NY but there may be )Would you be able to travel that far?

If you could travel you could call to find out the rates... I dont think they are all 600 - 800 dollars at least not after the first visit.

Just a thought.

Sorry you are in such a crummy situation. I hope the tide changes for you soon. No one should have to stay sick.
