I am concerned that this brain fog is affecting my job as Executive Director of a not for profit agency! We have been having some financial problems anyway due to decreasing state and federal grants. However, I am making stupid little mistakes administering these grant funds we receive. Most are small, but cause problems due to it being federal funds. When they do site visits, they go over each receipt to see if it is an approved cost. This year there were numerous issues with these kind of things, $2., $4. too much. I have had to make myself come to work many days because I am so tired. My joints in my hips and knees hurt most of the time. I am on IV antibiotics, azithromycin. I do feel dazed and foggy most of the time now. I feel like I want to resign my position, but don't know what we will do for money/insurance. I am so overwhelmed I do not know what to do. Thanks for listening. Carlie

I'm so sorry to hear that this is having such an impact on your quality of life.
Is it possible for you to take a medical leave of absence? I had to do that and it made a big difference.
YOu won't get better until you can truly focus on you and getting better. Unfortunately, it gets worse before it gets better, and I've found that when I can focus on my PT, family, medicine, REST REST and more REST I do much better than when I try to spread myself too thin.
You are in my prayers!
Jenn

Jenn, Thanks for responding, and for your kind words. I would like to take a leave, but we are so short staffed here at The Shelter, I am not sure I can. We had to downsize our Program due to $$$. The person who was assisting me with administration had to move into direct services. This leaves me as the only one who can do admin work. Maybe in a month or two when things slow down. I know what I need to do, but am struggling with the responsibility of running this place. I forgot to mention that this is a Program I started back in 1987 so it feels like "my baby", which makes it even harder. Hopefully, I can do what I need to do for me soon. Thanks again for the support! Carlie
Also, Thank you to Lisa for the kind words and support. Carlie

Carlie, I understand that that non-profit you gave birth to is going to be difficult to let go of. Can you get some help in going over the figures??
If you're not doing better in another month or two, I'd seriously consider quitting. I understand the need for the money. I completely understand and sympathize!

I really understand your position and sympathize.
This is where a good Board of Directors should be called in to help. You will need it, because regaining your health needs to be your major priority now, along with your job.
Can you take a leave of absence, and ask for your Board's help in arranging this?
Remember, you will do great things again, once you have regained your health.
Best wishes -- ella

I did the books for a business and it got to be so bad for me that I did not trust myself anymore.
Believe me when I say, I did my job well and I was very accurate all the time.
I finally had to leave my job because I couldn't even think straight anymore. I went from being a very smart woman to feeling like a failure.
I even have trouble with my own checkbook now.
How sad is that.
It sounds like you love your job so my heart goes out to you. Do the best you can and you will know when and if you need to take a leave.
I feel for you, I really do.

Carlie, There are things you can do to increase the bloodflow to your brain.
Read Healing Lyme by Stephen Buhner to find out about Resveratrol.
This supplement increased the microcirculation so much that my mind and thinking abilities began to return to normal. I had forgotten what it was like!
In my case, I stopped because I began to experience a backache in the area of my kidneys. But I haven't heard of anyone else having this reaction.
There are several other supplements that can help microcirculation in the brain also.

Carlie-
is there someone you know/trust well to do a "jobshare" with? not typically done in an admin position, but in a small non-profit, may be a solution? so you don't have to step all the way aside?
or if not that, maybe you can bring in a high level intern or graduate student, etc. to help with the grunt-work part of the grant proposals?
Its highly detailed, i know. can't imagine how you're able to do that kind of work at all feeling as you do.
Just because this IS your baby (congratulations on such fine work), I know you'll want to do what works best to protect the mission and to be able to keep providing services, whatever that ends up being.
