I was diagnosed with lyme in 2005, i was severly sick to the point where i was unable to care for my 2 year old and 9 month old at the time. I was a single mother, during the last 2 years i have been seeing a llmd and a nutritionist with supplements.

I had gotten to a point that the dr. tried taking me totally off antibiotics. for 6 months all i was taking were immune enhancing pills vitamins ect....

during tis time me & my childrens father got back together and actually got married! Nov. 06. Unplanned i accidentally got pregnant in december. I ALWAYS felt a little worse around my periods hormons or whatever but Now i am soooooo sick.

I have always been against abortions, but i am so sick i am scared to continue. Fevers everyday right now. Herxing on amox. really bad head symtoms to the point i can barely lift it alot of times. my arms and left side keep going numb soo many symtoms

i am alrewady 8 weeks and the doc. says to wait to see if things get better, that was 4 weeks ago and i just feel soo sick n horrible. i just don't have that much support on this and i am scared. i know i could get on some better stronger med if i weren't prenant, plus how do i know even if i continued to battle this that my baby wouldn't be affected when i am soooo sick right now,

Anyones advice on what to do to try n feel better physically or advice on this serious prob. i would deeply appreciate.

God Bless Us ALL.....

Unknown to me at the time I had Lyme during each of my pregnancies. I now realize that what I thought was morning sickness was actually a form of dysautonomia.

I did get better as the pregnancy went on. Back then Lyme disease didn't have a name and no one would have though I had it in OK anyway.

However I think that by being on antibiotics you are helping your unborn child. I'm sure there will be others who are more knowledgeable along to give you better advice.

Wishing you lots of luck with this pregnancy.

I believe I would be in full remission now if I had not gotten pregnant with my second daughter.

But I am glad I had her and she and I are both doing great. There is no question though that the pregnancy set me back because I had been symptom free for 2 months when I got pregnant and my LLMD told me I would be in full remission after 3 omnths no symptoms!!! Boy did he look sad when I told him I was pregnant- and then happy for me- but yes, you are making a sacrifice.

Such is the essence of parenthood!!!

If you are considering termination you should go talk to a professional counselor because that is a serious decision.

My mother had an abortion back in the illegal days. She and my father were already married and knew they wanted children, but it wasn't the right time. She has always told me that I owe my life to that abortion bcause they DID know they wanted 2 children- and I am the younger of two!!! So they would have had that one, and THEN my brother, and NEVER me!!!!!! SO I owe my life to abortion in a way. She has never had any guilt or weirdness about it and luckily although the set up was scary it was not harmful and she was fine afterward... !!! No regrets for her for termination, no regrets for me for keeping mine- and I *did* consider termination briefly because I was SO CLOSE to full remission!! But we all know deep inside what is right for us- and I am glad she is here with us- she is great-

Anywayz, I am sorry things are tough. Everyone I know who has stayed on abx through pregnancy has had a good outcome with the baby!!! I myself have not been symptom free again since her birth
BUT I also had to change off the med that did that for me- cipro- and as I am choosing to still breastfeed I am still on amoxi- I do believe I will get those gains back-

but it DOES HURT to lose ground with Lyme- and it sucks to go backwards- and however many people tell you you are doing the right hting or the wrong thing you still wake up with that ache that was gone that is BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I am sorry for that!!!

The good hting is, if you go forward you can always tell your child when she or he is being difficult, "I gave up my health for you!"*!)*!)
(Just kidding, sort of*)!

Take care,
Best wishes,
Sarah

i agree that you might be best served by a counselor who was neither pro or con abortion (don't know how to find one of those) to go over the pros and cons. unfortunately, no one has a great deal of information to go on in this area. i feel for you and your struggle.

prayers your way.....

Thank you soo much everyone for giving me ur advice on this extremely difficult trial that i am now facing. Though my fight has never really been completely over, but boy did it feel good with alot of these horrible symtoms to be on hold.

Californialyme-i think that is really good plan to help get a stubborn child to listen/possibly lol!I sure wish i had something to use for my 5 1/2 yr. old and my 3 1/2 yr. old which are very hard to control right now lol!

IMO, no one else in the world can tell you what to do, though I sure do understand your reaching out here. Only you can decide what is best for yourself and for all of your family. It sounds like good advise to speak with a regular family counselor, and to do it soon.

It sounds like you are in for a bumpy ride no matter what you decide- young children and a mom extremely sick with lyme just don't mix very well, at least in the short term.

Wishing you strength and the courage to do what is right for you, whatever that might be..

It's tough being pregnant with Lyme. I have six kids, one is adopted, and I've had undiagnosed Lyme for over 30 years.

It will be hard, but worth it. Stick it out.
