I have been diagnosed since last July and am taking two abx, Biaxin and Doxycycline. Feeling worse now than ever. Severe headache, nausea, severe anxiety depression. Every day it seems like I get new pain or sympton. My LLMD is great but is 5 hours away in another state. Also there is no support group near me. Just need a little reassurance that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Feeling very "crazy" right now and my endurance is wearing thin. Friends and family especially husband are great but when you don't "look" sick sometimes don't realize how sick you feel. I am new to this site , glad I found it for some support. I really miss my real life. I hope I can get at least part of it back. This disease really puts the brakes on life doesn't it.

Welcome to the site Renny! You will find lots of support and answers here. Be sure to check out the Newbie Links towards the top of the Medical info page.

Sounds like you are off to a good start with your treatment. Just make sure you stay on it long enough! Many folks have been treated for only 3 months or so, and we all know now that that is not enought time.

Good luck and hope you're feeling better.

Hi Renny.

It sounds like you are experiencing a long and drawn out herxheimer effect... with some serious staying power! Please don't feel like you're not making progress. You ARE. Each day of feeling bad marks what is hopefully further eradication of the bacteria from your body.

While I've HEARD of people recovering sooner, it's far more frequent that it takes longer. At six months I was nearly as wretched as when beginning in treatment, so you mustn't lose hope! Brighter days will start to pop up here and there. In the meantime, support yourself as much as possible, eat well, rest MUCH, detox and stay on top of a good probiotic like Theralac.

And visit often!

Michelle

Dearest Renee,

I'm so sorry you are having such a hard time but please know that you are very fortunate to have a good LLMD and are being treated.

So many posters here are unable to receive treatment yet and watch themselves grow sicker. The things you are feeling, though scary and very hard, mean you are hitting the bacteria and

it wants to give you a one-two punch before it is irradicated! It might help to visualize your body in a fighting match with big, mean borrelia

and though borrelia might seem to be hitting harder than you can, you will ultimately win the boxing match! Stay tuned in to the support here.

It will get you through most anything. Wishing you better days soon,

Janet

Thanks for support. I used to keep a daily record of symptoms, etc. but I got lazy and didn't keep up with it after I got LYme diagnosed.

I WILL start today.

Hello Renee,

I am new to this site as well, but you can get some really good comforting advice here.

Three and a half years ago my husband was lead here for help for me. I was so sick, I couldn't see. With advice we made an appointment for a Lyme test and one with an LLMD 500 miles away.

For the first time I had heard from someone who was experiencing symptoms like mine and could relate to what I was going through.

For the first four months I thought I must be dying a slow and very painful death.

I had visited Drs. all over and all they could conclude was either I was crazy or I was a Dr. shopper looking for a supplier for a bad habit.

Thank God we found that I just have Borreliosis. I have taken about twenty antibiotics in the past three years to get here today. I am still taking antibiotics as apperantly we haven't targeted all of those nasty bacteria yet but they are so tricky they hide in fatty tissue, they migrate into a cyst form which takes Flagyl to kill, there is something else for water-soluable and so on. Not to mention the numerous diseases ticks carry.

The entire story is here if you would care to see:

http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=017016

Detoxing, to me is one of the most important things to learn. If you are not familar or just want to ask more questions I will be happy to share my knowledge with you.

I am sorry you are sick, may God bless you and guide these Drs. in getting us well.

It is hard to smile, but we must keep clean, happy thoughts. That is easier to do when you know there is light at the end of the tunnel.

If I can be of any more help I'll be happy to return the good deed that someone did for me.

Sherry [Smile]

welcome and yes, there IS light at the end of the tunnel.....that's the good news....the bad news is that it IS a very, very long tunnel.

each and every one of us had to find out own methods of hanging in for that very, very long time.

i wish you peace of mind to the degree that is possible and a speedier than most recovery.

Renny,

I was where you were a year ago. Herxing so badly, every cell must have been inflamed. I had been on abx for 7 months and thought the hell would never end.

Tell yourself, this too shall pass, because it will. Use whatever coping strategies you can. Most important, be kind and gentle to yourself. You are in the very worst stage and are a very sick woman.

I am 19 months into therapies. Abx are not the only ones I use. I have just taken up yoga again (I NEVER thought I could do it again). I could not walk a year ago due to pain, fatigue, and lack of stamina.

So things will get better, but just take care of yourself now.

Jeff
