As you all know, our friend Bettyg is getting new hips on March 5.

I am looking forward to seeing pictures of her dancing when she is all healed up.

Bettyg, I know there are a few days left before your sugery but I want you to know that I am thinking

and praying for you. Asking the Lord to place His Divine Protection over you and keep you until you are recovered enough to let us know

how you are doing. What kind of dancing do you like to do? I want to be able to visualize you dancing away!

Hugs and kisses,

Geneal

Betty,

Add me to your list of well-wishers. Make sure you get enough rehab/physical therapy so you'll be dancing in the very near future.

Know your perserverence about health issues, I expect you to teach all the doctors, nurses and everyone else you run into all about Lyme!!

Take care,
Jill

Good luck betty, for a uneventful surgery and speedy recovery.

My mom has had 2 hips replaced and bounced back pretty darn well. Our thoughts are with you.

Hey, did you know they have you standing the first night? It's the most amazing thing.

Take all the pain meds they offer, especially, make sure you receive them prior to going to PT. They make it possible to do the therapy without increasing pain. Don't let them take you down for PT until you've got some pain killers in them.

You can do this kiddo!

My mom's reaction after having her hip done was, "why in the world didn't I do this years ago!" The hip and groin pain were gone immediately. Yay!

[group hug] [kiss] [group hug] WOW, WHAT AN UPPER TO COME HERE TODAY AND FIND THIS! [Big Grin]

i got on last night to paste a new joke/story to tutu's laughter post, and saw something addressed to me, but wanted to paste this before my lyme mind forgot! Came back and then system went DOWN!

i tried for 45 minutes to get into the forum....any of them, the directory, and my profile. NO LUCK! [Frown] i got off at 330 am or i would have been on here till 430 am OR hubby woke up giving me heck for being on there STILL!

it's so WONDERFUL to have CLOSE online friends that are CLOSER than family and other friends! those walking in my shoes whose opinions/suggestions/advise i VALUE VERY MUCH!

i can just be myself around you all; no pretenses! i am who i am since this chronic lyme hit me 37 years ago at age 21! i don't know any other life by misdiagnosed lyme!! [cussing]

i try to be assertive but come across agressive since you can't see my facial expressions as i type my hard to find words to each of you.

BTW, i'm the 2nd oldest of 5 kids. at age 9, i was taking care of myself and next 3 youngest: 2 ornery brothers ...6, 4, and baby sister. so i became "bossy" at a young age keeping them all in line!

since i was also a secretary for 26 years and a keypunch/data entry operator for about 5 years....worked 30 yrs. 7 months until my illnesses forced me to leave on my own, i worked in a field office where the men were gone 75% of the time. so i was in charge of the office and making things ran as smooth as possible.

so i hope this explains a little of my pre-lyme and after being bitten BUT NOT DIAGNOSED correctly.

correction: i am having LEFT HIP replacement surgery only. right one looked good they said!

geneal, thank YOU so much for starting this special thread of well wishes, prayers, support, and i'm going to miss you! you ALL don't know how much this means to me ... your concern for my safety, healing, and knowing I WILL BE MISSED!

i'm going to go into LYME WITHDRAWL since we don't have a laptop, but you can bet i'll try to find any pc internet in an area my hip can get to and be COMFY!!!

jill, you betcha, LOOK OUT ALL DRS., RN, ANESTHOLOGISTS, AND ANY "INFECTIOUS" DR. THAT COMES MY WAY! I'll be there preaching/teaching all the lyme info i can throw at them.

jill, i'll have to pack alot of LYME BROCHURES AND IGENEX'S WESTERN BLOT IGM/IGG BROCHURES to "HAND OUT" as i lecture!

i'll also have to print off my LDA/BETTY LYME BROCHURE with their info, co-infections brochure i retyped completely, links, and good lyme books all detailed! i'm so glad you mentioned this so i can plan ahead on getting those 2 jobs done too! [kiss]

i'll also take my 2 LYME PETITIONS to get as many signatures as i can from ALL MY HOSPITAL STAFF waiting hand and foot on me!

thank you to for all your well wishes/prayers:
*******************************************

dmc, vermont lymie, lisi, michelle m, bubbear, lionness who had the cutest DANCING SMILY i've ever seen!

lisa s, your sentiments on having close online friends sums it up wonderfully. i don't know what i'd do without ALL of you with our different perspectives to see the COMPLETE PICTURE instead 1 piece of the puzzle!

trublue -- yes, they said i'd be standing 1st day and i do believe SHORT WALK! i'll be so happy to have my OWN PAIN MED MACHINE I CAN POKE ANY TIME I WANT TO! in my many other surgeries, that wasn't an option then, and my pain became uncontrollable! now i know it was the undiagnosed lyme acting up.

yes, i'll be sure to take pain meds before exercising.

yesterday was the pits for me with so much excruciating pain! i'd done morning pre-surgery exercises in bed, and then hurt on my left hip. they told me at special get together to STOP when pain started, so i did vs. doing the 10-20 they want of EVERY exercise of 7 assigned.

then i washed clothes going up/downstairs working with clothes. hubby hauled them down/up. we're both in sad shape with his non-stop "essential tremors" of his uncontrollable hands and so weak. by that time i could barely move due to the pain.

hubby made us a wooden tool much like a gardening hoe with a longer handle to use reaching into the clothes dryers where we can't reach the clothes that just want to remain in there! 1st time using and worked swell in case any of you have these problems too!

acorn, you crack me up!! what a darling dancing squirrel!! now, do you have one that does a POLKA?

geneal, it's a polka i would do when i can dance again as i can't remember how many YEARS i have not been able too!

this would be in memory of my dear, late parents, Alice and Si, who were outstanding polka dancers all their married life! they were both so graceful, and LIGHT ON THEIR FEET considering at 1 time, dad got up to 300 lbs!

dad and i both walk like the late actor, walter brennan from REAL MCCOYS, or CHESTER from GUNSMOKE! but when dad got on the dance floor, he was light as a feather.

mom used to get tuckered out, and would go hide finding ladies to visit with. meanwhile dad found other willing partners who wanted to polka with him. when they died, more people told me that my parents taught them how to polka, and how much they enjoyed it!

hopeful, you bet; i've got your nickname stored in a special place to ask questions as needed during my hip recovery.

did you use FISH OIL on your scar? a dear fishing friend/life-long neighbor of dad's told me about this last week that worked well for him on his scar !!

again, thank you one and ALL for every expression you typed in your notes to me; so many i can't remember them all, and i did make notes trying not to overlook anyone's specific comments/questions. if i missed answering, please ask again okie dokie!

i value each of your friendships; THANK YOU MY FRIENDS! [kiss]

bettyg!

I hear The Rockettes are looking for another dancer in their line-up, so I told them you might be looking at the position!

That way, I can visit you when you come to NY for your high-kicking interview!

What say, woman?

My uncle had both hips replaced. His goal was to do enough PT to make it to an elder-hostel bike tour across Denmark (very flat place to bike). He made it, but set off airport buzzers with his titanium joints!

My thoughts and prayers are showering you with love. I know you're going to do great, you potential Rockette, you....

Best O'best,

Hi Betty -

What a great bunch of well-wishers here!

Anyone I've ever spoken with who had a hip replacement said they've felt better and why did they ever wait so long. That sounds like good news to me.

Wishing you all the best -- Robin

god bless you my many friends for your continued good wishes on my hip surgery this monday:

claire; robin, andie...you bet i'll report on how it went! and other unusual experiences. you know how "bashful" i am! [lol] [Big Grin]

wiseforit, : would you believe i already AM A ROCKETTE? no kidding, where i graduated from, that was our name in basketball/sports. guys were the ROCKETS! now for any HIGH-STEPPING, that's another story! :lol

serious now, i had a scare late afternoon! i just was NOT feeling well: CHILLING AND RUNNING A TEMP of 100.2. that's not normal for me. went to bed and covered up with 4 heavy blankets; just could NOT get my hands warm.

then later i was burning up; i'd put my hands on my cheeks and forehead to warm they up.

i got out the 1" manual hospital gave me for my surgery and reread some things. i was sure if my temp was over 99.9; i was to call someone. yes; the dr. but it was 8 pm so that was out of the question.

i used 2 phone nos. in their info; both MON. - FRI. during normal work hours! left a message, but she won't be back until MONDAY AM; day of my surgery.

went to bed for 2 hrs. and finally took ES tylenol; that worked! when i came in here to read/type, i didn't need a heavy sweatshirt on since it's around 10 degrees outside. feel so much better, and i've eaten 4 juicy oranges!

i was hoping this would NOT prevent my surgery monday!

anyway, thank you ONE AND ALL for your sincere wishes/prayers for me on monday! i love you all; we are SO UNIQUE; others do NOT know what they are missing by not knowing us chronic lymies! [group hug] [kiss]

thank you so much:

cindy, pq, suzy q, cassie, and my witty friend, cobweb!

carol, you outdid yourself on the morphine rhyme! both were really cute, and i thank you so much from your no. 1 fan!

TNJANET, will be talking to my husband that night and will post something promtply. then she has her own drs. appts/traveling so you may not hear for awhile after that until i can "sneak" on here!

i've been SICK since late yesterday afternoon: running 100.2 fever, chilling, and last night on here my teeth were even chattering...a 1st. laid down and my stomach was churning. had dry heaves and then a small amount of vomiting. so i'm going to really take it easy in bed this afternoon/evening and tomorrow. bettyg!

I JUST KNEW YOU WERE A ROCKETTE!

You see, I have a sixth sense.... I just lack the other five! [lol]

I hope you are feeling stronger by now. Sounds like you have the stomach flu I just nursed myself and two sons through...

Felt like a prelude to a herx; but it was the flu since we all had it simultaneously. It lasted 48 hours of discomfort (mild fever, vomiting, diahrrea) and a few days of being careful of what to eat.

Feels like "Murphy's Law" that you should feel this way right before the impending surgery.

Every time my body and I anticipate an event -- good or bad -- it runs me down whether or not I give it permission to do so!

I think we Lymies have no reserve to fall back on physically when we're gearing up for emotionally stressful stuff.

Bask in the love you've got coming your way, put on headphones with instrumental music playing...and drift...

[kiss]

THEY CANCELED MY SURGERY DUE TO MY FEVER! HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT!.

to all of you, at this time, i would have been out of surgery! but all weekend i tried callingthe various phono nos. they gave me when i got sick without getting a LIFE person until late sat. night.

so called them 730 am, 1 hr. later got the call back saying NO SURGERY, RESCHEDULED FOR MARCH 26, NOON! i wasn't with the program so then needed to check how long my blood was good for. 1st unit expires 3-30; 2nd one 1 wk. later.'

called my drivers; they called back; they run their son's car wash all week while he's at a convention.

so frankly for any of you who live close to me and NO longer working, i really need your help to get me down there on march 26 for surgery. i've waiting now 7 long weeks.

i'll also pay your gas and food expenses the day! we'd eat at bonanza with their outstanding salad/hot foot buffet.

friends wandered if i could move it up or a few days later, but no booked solid. first time opening was april 2; too late for my blood. so i told them i would take this as is. i'll find a way there.

really ran the high temps last night and kept taking tylenol; fever finally broke 3 am and i woke up to a completely wet bed including all my blankets. so i went to jack's air lift chair to see if i could rest there and hat moistened heating pad on my extreme lower back pain.

couldn't get comfy. felt my airs and my body was just loaded with more moisture and everything was wet again. tried couch; no good at all. very weak today. since i vomited this week, my ribs are so sore i can't deep cough, and that would have been bad for my surgery since i had a collapsed lung and pneumonia after 1 of my surgeries.

yes, god provided another challenge of not doing it today, and we finally had good weather/roads in IOWA after they were all closed for 2 days.

i see many notes in my inbox for you; 30, i'll read as time permits but wanted to send this bulk mailing to get the news out to all of you. thank you for your love and concern for me.
betty gordon, ames, iowa xoxox

i've very weak so posting this here and on my post in medical; won't be doing much else; just need plenty of bed rest! but i wanted to report into you all! [group hug] [group hug] [kiss]

Betty G!

Rockettes don't need you for their Easter Extravaganza, however, they hope to hear from you for the Christmas 2007 Pageant.

Rest, sweat and be relieved that you didn't go into surgery with the flu in your system.

Your angels are on alert and making sure all your systems are go before you move on this hip venture!

Sit. Stay. Heal.

Love,

wiserforit
