All my life I wanted to live in the mountains and I finally do. So much for that, the bears, snakes and coyotes are nothing compared to a tick bite!
I have about 250 ft of yard that ends at the bottom of mountainy woods, and 135 ft that is along a stream.
I would like to have someone place mulch along the grass/woods edge. What else can I do to eliminate ticks in the yard?

Spray "Tempo" all over your yard. Check the label to make sure it kills them. It is VERY mild and can be used indoors. It is made from Gerranium (sp)flowers, very user friendly,,,unlike some pesticides.
Do same every 3-4 weeks. Should keep them down to a roar,,,then do a tick check when you come inside.
Think I read where you can eliminate alot of them by feeding the deer in an insecticide loaded deer feeder,,,where it gets wiped on by sticking there head inside. Use fly flips and bullet loaded rubbers.
That study was posted here not long ago,,,was very successful enterprise, and sounded worth doing!! OR a salt lick, they cant resist those!!!
They make insecticide minerals for cows so they dont have as many horn flies(resulting in pinkeye) might check if that would kill ticks,,,that sounds great to me!!
Also make some rodent bait thigs for mice

You can use the spray Don suggested . I also live in the woods & when I work outside or go into the woods I wear a tick suit:
when I come in make a really good top to bottom tick check. Be careful for anything that looks like just a speck. In the spring the nymphs are so small-as small as this periods...
Small but can make you sick just as sick. I used to love the spring but now kinda dread it a some because the tick population around our house is so bad. But I still love the weather & flowers this time of year
Our house stands in the middle of 3 acers of heavy wooded area. So for us not possible to spray it all.
Hope this helps Blessings Dana

Here is a link to a place to buy it. I dont have any interset in this place, dont know what place this is,,,and for sure it is the first place I looked therefore NOT necessary the least cost place,,,shop around, you can do better than this,,however it says its enough for a common house for a year(at least) and cost less than $4. a month. It also says perfect for perimeter sprays and such and it DOES kill ticks,,,it says!! Household bugs also.
MY experience with this stuff is it DOES NOT stink,,,at all,,,smells like you are spraying water only. NO fumes, safe for inside restuarants if that tells you anything.. Can spray around foundation to keep bugs out too.
Put it in a hand sprayer, pump it up a few pumps and spray away. Always clean with clean water so it doesnt plug up for your next use!!
