Hi all,
I have jury duty tomorrow. I hope I will be awake and alert for it. Since I have really bad days and not so bad days, I didn't try to get a doctor's statement. I wonder if I should have. I won't know what tomorrow will be like till it comes.

Has anyone here gotten a doctor's statement and gotten out of jury duty because of Lyme? I was just curious.

Thanks in advance!

Yes. The doctor excused me from jury duty due to lyme and C. diff, although she wrote neither on the letter...felt it wasn't their business to know what my medical issues were....just that I had medical issues that would indeed keep me from serving effectively.

ditto to what Timaca said. I was called up 2 months ago and medical-ed out.

i actually wanted to serve, but didn't think it would be fair to any defendant to have me sittign there with my brain blinking in and out.

I had to opt out with a medical statement many years ago when I thought my only problem was Interstitial Cystitis. I knew I couldn't sit for hours [even one hour] without a potty break!!! [Wink]

I really did want to serve. I never have had another chance either before that, nor recently.

I got a doctors statement excusing me.

I hope you can do the same.

Anyone who is so sick with lyme should not have to do jury duty. They would not ask a cancer patient who's going threw chemo.

Speak up & demand your rights

hope all goes well [group hug]

good luck
dana

Hi Everybody,
Thanks so much for your replies. I went in this morning and was on the first panel of 12 but I got excused since they were picking 6 out of 12 people.

Even though I would have liked to have experienced it, it was probably for the best since I was starting to fade by that time and the trial hadn't even started yet.

So, I think, next time I get called, I will ask my doctor for a statement unless I am better by then.

Thanks again!

I got out to. My doctor wrote a nnote to get me excused. I took it to the court house and they removed me from the list. The lady told me to keep the letter and I could us it if I ever got called again. [spinning smile]

Well it appears there is one positive out of having LD - no more jury duty or at least until I lick this thing.

i, too, got a medical cert. i can't sit for very long without going to the bathroom, and with facial twitching and eye pain, sensitivity to lights, it was just too much.

she didn't feel i could concentrate that long either.

i hated to, but i just didn't feel i could contribute.
