My situation is that I have lost more than 100 lbs. for no reason. I was overweight and I did start eating less two years ago. I thought it took a year for my body to realize that, and then I started to lose. But then it took off, and I lost more and more in a very short period of time - 70 of the pounds in just three months. Now, I don't look good. For the amount I eat, I should weight 180-185 (and I look good at that size). I weight 135. And just recently, a third type of neuropathy was found - autonomic nervous system. Included in this is no digestion motility. But they say this is not the reason for the weight loss.
I've seen information here that sugar is to be avoided, low carbing is the way to go. First, I hate cooking and it takes a lot out of me. Secondly, when I've tried to low carb in the past, my symptoms got much worse in the first week and I just couldn't keep going with it. Third, it's expensive.
Does it have to be low carb and how strict does it really need to be? I need something that I can actually do - easy meals but enough food variety and things that taste good. Also, I dislike meat but I'll choke it down if necessary (with the exception of a good steak, which is too expensive).
Thanks for your help!!!

Lori,
Basically all I eat is carbs. I can't digets much of anything else. If you do eat carbs, you want to eat complex carbohydrates. These are less processed carbs and they take your body a longer time to digest.
The more whole the grain, the more complex the carb. Rice is a great example. Short grain white rice is pure sugar. But long grain brown rice or wild rice is much more complex. And it's much better for you.
I always say fruit and vegetables are good.
You might also want to do some weight training to put on muscle weight. Make sure you get a lot of protein then too.

From what I read out here, if you have Lyme you have to do a low carb diet. I was told that sugar feeds the spirocetes and it also supresses the immunine system, so it takes longer to recover. Then on abx you get yeast, and the sugar feeds the yeast.
How severe do I have to be? The problem is, I've already lost a lot of weight for no reason. If I low carb, I will lose a ton more and I don't want to do that. How about if I make sure the carbs are healthy ones, and that if I eat a carb, I eat a protein with it?

Yes, eat healthy ones. No white foods. No starchy vegetables. Avoid fruit if you're having yeast problems.
I find that if I eat fruit, I WILL HAVE yeast problems.

i disagree that you have to avoid all these foods with lyme.
i think it is absolutely important to eat a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well a good amount of whole, complex carbs (brown rice, wild rice, spelt, quinoa, millet, etc).
