I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum, but here goes:
I recently underwent a Persantine stress test, and my cardiologist (who is not particularly Lyme Literate, although I trust her) has recommended that I have a "64 slice cardiac CAT scan" done at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, HUP has a terrible reputation in the Lyme community, and some say it should be avoided at all costs. Most people would say that the HUP staff is firmly in the Alan Steere camp.
I have had 2 experiences with them already, both negative. First, I had a SPECT brain scan done at HUP. The results were negative. As a result, I was not diagnosed properly for another 2 years. Two subsequent SPECT brain scans at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in NY were both positive. Turns out, the SPECT brain scanner at HUP that is used for patients has only two heads, whereas Columbia-Presyterian's has three. I had an eye exam at their very prestigious eye clinic at Penn Prebyterian. Although I had a wonderful Blue Cross indemnity insurance plan at the time, the billing was a nightmare.
I live in Philadelphia, but am willing to travel within 200 miles of Philadelphia.
