dr. steven garner from NY on fox news said if you pull tick off within 24 hours "you will not get Lyme".
He said no need to rush to the doctor for antibiotics. Don't be scared he said. Just pull the tick off. Look for the bullseye rash.

I've also heard that if you pull the tick off within 24 hours you're good to go.
Years ago my daughter had TWO deer ticks on her. I pulled them off ASAP. I sent them to the local Health Dept, and they both tested positive for Lyme.
I freaked out. Took her to the pediatrian as soon as possible. Was told that if I pulled them out before 24 hours not to be worried, and to watch her for symptoms. She did not believe in prophylaxis (sp) antibiotics.
I called Dr. Jones and told his receptionist what happened. She gave me the dosage for abx, but of course did not prescribe anything without seeing my daughter.
Thankfull, actually, thank GOD my daughter never got sick. I'm glad I found the ticks in time. So I do think there is some merit to the faster you get them out the less your chances of getting Lyme.
Her's were not the slightest bit engorged, and for some reason she was spared.

I pulled my daughters tick off within 3 hours of her getting bitten...she was seven then...she is 18 now and has had Lyme Disease for 11 years...

Etherealgirl, How old is your daughter now? I sincerely hope that she did not get LD, but you should continue to watch for any changes in her situation.
I was told by one of the top LLMDs in NY that a short attachment time did NOT mean Lyme was not a possiblity.
It could mean that a small number of bacteria was transmitted by the tick. Not enough to cause symptoms until enough time passed for the few bacteria to multiply to the point that symptoms would develop.
A strong immune system will slow up the development of the illness, too.
With the bites of 2 positive ticks, please don't feel complacent.

Even I know this guy just gave out bad info.

This is really sad, any one with medical training should easly relize that any bacteria or even virus's can be passed on from just
breaking the skin, if the bacteria/virus is present, it can be passed on, this is well known and is a shame that so many in the medical
community down play it when it comes to lyme, the more I hear of things like this, the more I am convinced that there is a huge cover up with regaurd to lyme.
