i won't go into detail but lately our finances are shot.
i just found out that the faa sent in his retirement papers and he retired in june. so they sent them in over a month later. that means no money until september. i get a small retirement and we have some from the va -- not near enough to make the monthly bills.
and now he's had surgery and we're looking at several thousand dollars for that out of pocket. plus, i can't get him to stop charging (but, hey, that's a whole nother story).
so is anybody else in this boat with me too? i know it's depressing but i feel like i need to know there are others like me out there.......
it's a sensitive subject, i know, but i'm just down and need some pats on the back, anything....

Well I am broke. I havent worked in 3 months. My hubby works everyday sometimes 15 days in a row.
Last week I had to get food from my parents so the kids could eat.
I couldnt refill my Zoloft becaus eI had no money. Things for me are bad. We have to go to our 401 K to get some money. We are only 28 and 35.
We have a ton of bills that have not been paid etc etc. It has only been 3 months of illness for me and I can imagine what it must be like
for those of you who have been sick longer.
I try to say to myself it always could be worse. It is hard for me sometimes to truly believe it and listen to myself.
I often think of a young lady at work who is only 31 who has breast cancer and it has spread all over. She is considered terminal.
She is a single mom of a 3 year old boy. She had to plan her arrangements and all.
So when I feel sorry for myself and my situation, I think of her and her son.
Then I feel grateful to be able to watch my kids grow up even if it is from the couch.
I may have crappy shoes, clothes and car. I may feel so sick and alone but I have my life as difficult as it has been lately.
I hope things getter better or all of us soon.

Dear Melissa,
I haven't worked since Katrina.
Thank God I have health insurance, but it doesn't come cheap.
Do you go to a local church....they may be able to help out.
Local food banks too.
When we got to Tennessee following the hurricane,
The church that opened their hearts and house to us
Gave us what they called a "pounding".
Everyone showed up at our borrowed church house with a pound of something.
Rice, flour, sugar, beans, peanut butter, etc.
It was so appreciated and needed.
We were on food stamps at that time.
Have you thought about applying for that program as well?
Hang in there. We won't let you or your children starve.
Hugs,
Geneal

you know i still say there has to be a way for us to help each other. i know we can't post personal home addresses, but wouldn't it be nice to get a "care package" from another lymie...
anybody got any ideas how we could exchange this information.
we had this program at church and it was anonomyous. every week (or less if you couldn't afford it), you got someone's name and then would donate whatever you could to help.
walmart gift cards were a big hit.
anybody??

Well I have a lot of family close by so that helps us quite a bit. I am not sure what to do at this point. They wont let us starve either.
We will be ok. if I need to apply for something we will, but we never qualify when we have needed it.
Things always seem to get worked out somehow.

You have the biggest heart and have helped me personally. I hate to see you in this predicament!
We struggle on a daily basis with finances...trying to afford the meds I need. Trying to figure a way to go to a LLMD which costs hundreds of dollars and seeing no light at the end of the tunnel.
I've struggled with Lyme my whole life, among other health problems. I need two surgeries, but unable to have them due to high cost of the deductable on our health insurance....that we pay out of pocket for because my husband works Contract in the IT industry.
You are not alone, never feel like that....though I know it is hard not to. I feel like that everyday.
Last week I existed on Raman Noodles alone so my kids would have the good food to eat.
My thoughts are with you always!!!!

I've had the feeling from your previous posts that you have some connection with the military??
I know there are various agencies at each military base for both active duty and retirees to be able to take advantage of programs they have.
I remember you said something about being close to Carlswell AFB, which is now a Guard base, but can you get down to Lackland, Randolph, Kelly or Bergstrom??
