I did 6 weeks of amoxicillan and was getting much better. . .then the scrip ran out. In about two days, my symptoms started returning and now they are getting intense. Do I get support? No! Of course not! I have been told by my rheumatologist that they've given me a lot of meds for this, but that I'm still testing positive for Lyme. Maybe. Because for some people, once they test positive, they always test positive. I explained that I felt my symptoms were returning and she was just unwilling to accept that. She referred me to an infectious disease specialist. I go the 2nd.
I tried talking to my husband about it, and he got all defensive. I'm so irritated with him right now. He was like, "Well, they don't treat past 6 weeks. We should be prepared for this to be how you are now." I'm so not accepting that! I plan to fight and made it clear.
GRRRRR!!!!!

Dear BeadieGirl,
Please find a LLMD in your area and make an appt as soon as you can.
You don't have to be like that for the rest of your life.
However, you need to be treated by a doctor who fully understands TBD's and co-infections.
Hugs,
Geneal

Before going to this ID Duck, talk to "merrygirl" about ID's. I tried to find her thread here, but couldn't find it.
It's a story which you will soon repeat, I'm afraid!
Save your $$$$ and go to an LLMD!

I had my blood drawn by an LLMD, but had an appointment on the books with an ID doc.
So for the 'fun' of it I saw the ID doc, checked off every single symptom of systemic infection on the handout they had sent me in the mail, was sweating profusely and had pinpoint pupils when my appointment finally rolled around (after a 3 month wait!), and he said,
"Your symptoms are not consistent with Lyme. I see no reason to give you antibiotics."
He ran zero tests on me, and he actually sent his nurse in after he was done to offer me water.
One week later I got my positive result from my first LLMD.
Do not waste your time with ID - they are being paid off not to treat this!

Hi Beadiegirl- I know how you feel. I have had no luck with ID docs.

I went to an ID doc when I could barely walk and my husband was feeding me. You know what he said? I was having an allergic reaction to something! I ended up being positive for Lyme with 8 out of 10 bands on the Western Blot! I agree with the rest, find a LLMD.
