I tested positive for rocky mountain spotted fever and I have been seriously sick for almost three months.

anyone have any info about short term prednisone use for the inflammation related to this disease?

currently taking 100 mg doxy bid
nuerontin for neurological pain 300 mg bid

and have been prescribed prednisone for six days. due to the inflammation in my chest wall.

any feed back would be greatly appreciated. what a painful, scary, illness.

thanks alot!

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME Jayne*)!*)!!

Glad you are ALIVE- that is a NASTY illness!!!

Unless you are tiny don't quite understand why you are only on 100 mg Doxy BID- for Lyme we use 200 BID and RMSF is targeted esp by Doxy- maybe don't want to overwhlem your body? I don't know- I would ask your doc why not on 400 mg a day thougH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't hurt to ask and may help you get over this more quickly!!!

GREAT NEWS-

RMSF tends to be very limited and once you are well, you should be able to get on with life and live happily ever after*)*)!*)!

But welcome*)!*)*)!! To the land of TBDs!!! I hope you were tested for Lyme and Ehrlichiosis and Babesiosis too because people often have multiple infections*)*!)*!!

But I am glad you are here- you sound like you have had a rough time*)!!!!

Hi Jayne,
Welcome back,,, DONT do that predisone, with lyme it makes it really really bad.

Are they saying that is ALL you have??RMSF???

I still would 'travel' if necessary to a GOOD LLMD and get treated properly,,,this clown is gonna end up killing ya before he finds out he is going all wrong here,,,doesnt sound too litterate to ME!!!

I tried putting you in touch with some local lymies BUT they have been way too sick to even respond(its like that sometimes)

I will try again this weekend,,,OR better yet,,,join the chat saturday nite from 8PM eastern time on to say wee hours of night,,,good info can be had there!!

They usually have a chat notice either here in General or over on the Medical board with a link. Or you can PM me and I can send you the link also!! be well--just don--
