Does anyone else suffer badly with vertigo/dizziness? I have dizziness every day and sometimes bad vertigo where I cant move. When I tried doxy, the dizziness built up and by day 6 I had vertigo, then, the same on lymecycline. I wasnt sure if it was a side effect of the tablets so went on to amox which I have been on for 2 months, exactly at the end of 2 months I have been getting dizzy stuffy heads that have just built up to bad vertigo again, is this die off, has anyone else had this and worked through it? I am weakening to stop the antibiotics.
Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

Yes, I get that too.

Often we feel worse when treating tick borne diseases with abx; that is the herx reaction, and depending on what you have (lyme plus co-infections?) and how long you had it, you can experience this die off reaction for a long time.

When that happens, many of us find that our original symptoms, like dizziness, get worse with treatment. My dizziness turned into occasional vertigo and worse dizziness when treating babs, and has persisted for the past year while treating lyme.

Some folks believe that the first symptoms you had are the last to leave with proper treatment. Dizziness was one of the first symptoms that I had, and probably will take time to disappear.

You might want to post this question in the medical section. There is not much that I do for dizziness other than continue treating, and hold on to wall, chairs, and people when I need to!

But it is rare that it gets so bad that I cannot move. can you ask your llmd about this? Have you had your ears checked out? Also, a neuro-opthamologist might be able to determine if the cause of your dizziness is visually-based.

Hi, yes had all the test at ENT dept., first, they thought I had menieres, then not, then inner ear lesion, then basilar migraine. Like most, I have a pile of stuff going on. I just noticed the vertigo coming back badly as soon as I started on doxy, and lymecycline and go back to the daily dizziness off it. When I started on the amox I was OK until 8 weeks into it when I seem to be getting bad dizzies again. Thanks for the input, it all helps to try and carry on.
Best Wishes
Chris

Yes, hang in there! It may take longer than we wish, but I believe with proper treatment this symptom will go away too. Good nutrition is important also.

By the way,

What is lymecycline? Do you mean minocycline?

No, not mino, lymecycline is in with doxy etc. I have actually just been perscribed mino but am carrying on with the amox as have read that 40% of people taking mino get vertigo.

Best Wishes
Chris
