One of the things I love doing most is swimming in the ocean, but since getting sick, it's something I've been unable to do.
But last weekend, we went to Rehoboth Beach, DE for a few days. The days were warm and dazzling. I rented a bike, biked several miles to a state beach I love and swam for quite awhile. The current was pretty rough that day, but I managed to do okay. And just being in the ocean felt so incredible.
Biking back into the wind and mostly uphill was a bit of a challenge, but I was finally able to do that, too.
For me, this was a big milestone, and though I was pretty tired the next day, I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

Let's hear it for the ocean.
I was supposed to go to the ocean a couple of weekends ago-but I the g-force of being booted to the moon so suddenly knocked the wind out of me.
As with most things in life-I get a second chance and hope to go this weekend.
I know the area you spoke of well. It was our favorite family beach area. But my bicycle is as rusted as my knees.
Someone else is even doing the driving-but hey- I don't care just so long as I get to stick my big toe in the ocean I'll be happy.

We took the grandkids to the Ocean a few weeks ago....they had never seen it! All of them under 4 years old.
We dipped our toes in the water and ran from the waves, they screamed and laughed and they wanted to do it again and again but I think I had more fun than they did!!
I'm glad you got to go Andie! I hope you can again soon

I actually thought of you at the ocean, Carol, because I remembered how much you love it. Skater, too...though I haven't seen her around too much lately.
Thanks for the encouragement, Sarah and kam, and meg, your description of your grandkids really touched me.
Watching kids and dogs at the ocean is really one of the best things ever! I'm so glad you had the chance to share that experience with them.
Stick two toes in the water this weekend, Carol--one for me, too!

From a Rehobo at heart, I am jealous..Hope the weather is good for you..
I try to get down a few times a year as a day trip. Makes a long day but so worth it.
I did have a weekend at OC a couple of weeks ago..The one Carol was to attend..Sounds like she is getting down this weekend.
I find the ocean very therapeutic. Instead of Salt and C, how about Grottos and salt water?
Would work for me..Well throw in a cold one. lmt
I will have to pass, I am going to Harrisburg tomorrow, or so I hope to fight for Lyme legislation..It's called Trick or Treating for Lyme..Well, my choice of words. They have tricked us for a couple of years so let's hope they get it in gear this year..

the water was awesome, and the day was warm and dazzling. It was perfect, Too.
Kelly, whenever I am able to do something that I couldn't do for a long time because of this disease, I have to let people know. In a life that had grown pretty small, these turn out to be huge successes!
LMT, good luck tomorrow in Harrisburg; I'll keep you in my thoughts as you go "trick or treating"

kelly,
I noticed last night that you guys were still in the throes of a heat wave. Thankfully, we've not got that amazingly beautiful eweather that sometimes marks early autumn on the east coast: cool nights and breezy, comfortable days.
perfect camping weather...but thanks to Lyme, camping days are over for me. at least for now.
