I have gone through many different treatments and feel like they did not work due to an excessive amount of stress I have had to deal with on a continual basis.
Marital stress from someone not really understanding the hell you go through everyday and from being at work for 12 hours a day, stress from a teenager who will torture you until she gets what she wants, arguments with family members over crazy things and the list goes on.
When these situations occur I can feel the energy draining out of me and the symptoms get worse. I was wondering if anyone has moved away from their families to get well when their home environment is not helping them .Thanks!

I know exactly how you feel. It could be arguing over homework or even something for work that pops up an requires more then I usually give.

Some days I get so drained it hurts to lift my arms!!!

I thankfully have a supportive family but I agree that stress does affect everything with this disease. There have been many times the dr's have told me to "remove" the stress from my life, if it were only that easy.

My husband has always been supportive, so I never considered moving away....but any time we would argue or something I would feel very drained and depressed.

It's hard on healthy people, so it's no wonder we get a hit when it happens.

Maybe you need to hold a family meeting so they REALLY understand how much it affects you and how hard you are trying to get well!

Therapy helped...ALOT.

If you can afford it I would give it a shot. It made the stress for me and my partner go from a 10 to at least a 3.

Not that we don't argue still but there is so much more understanding.

I used to go to sleep crying with terrible anxiety from the stress of are fights. This happens very little now if at all.

I feel I have the ability to heal so much more. My nervous system just goes haywire with stress.

I hope you can find a way to make it work with out the stress at home.

HI. I agree that therapy has changed my life-started right before i started my treatments.

My family is very supportive. However, its not always a good mix of personalities and that can cause me stress.

I have a family member here a few nights a week to help, but after talking to my therapist its just an illusion of help...I am more stressed on those days than others.

So I am in the process of looking to get outside help from people i can boss around b/c I pay them!! (not easy to find though....) good luck

Therapy can really be helpful. Therapists can teach you relaxation techniques, as well as helping you talk through the stressors in your life. You might also be able to have some family sessions.

Another option is yoga. Yoga is the best de-stressor I have found, and it's good for the body and the immune system.

Most importantly, you really need to find time to relax. You need to come to terms and admit that, if you can't find time for you, then you aren't going to get healthy.

Is there any way you can reduce your work hours? If not, is there any way you can create space for yourself at home and a time when nobody bothers you?

Stress has been a big factor in why I am not totally better. My partner has a 7 year old son that I cannot be around, as well as a 17 year old son who I can tolerate but he is still toxic to me.

When they are over here, which is every other weekend, I go stay with a friend. It really sucks but after 2 years of trying to tolerate the situation, I knew I had to just leave.

I don't know how this will affect my future relationship with the boys, but I felt I had no choice. Luckily my partner is understanding, he knows I tried.

I come back Sunday afternoon so I can spend a little bit of time with them, so they don't feel completely abandoned by me.

This situation has definitely helped me.

I hope you can figure something out!
