I am a newbie as well and want to tell my tale.

I believe Lyme disease has wreaked havoc on my body for the past 7-8 years. I grew up in New England and went to college in the Berkshire mountains. I had developed a case of scabies in college (not sure if I was bitten by a tick) and slowly went downhill for the next seven or so years. My symptoms:

1) joint and skeletal pain (skeletal lesions and bone softening)
2) muscle twitching
3) feels like my throat is closing and my airways are blocked sometimes
4) severe itchy skin is crawling feeling all over
5) have mucous build up in chest and throat (tongue has weird sores and white thrushing) like I have a cold all the time
6) Nose is stuffed and runny all the time
7) extreme fatigue like I got hit by a bus
weird nodules under my skin (like little painful sacs in my soft tissue)
9) Brain fog, forgetful

Been from gp to neurology to rheumatology with no answers and normal blood work. Finally reached wits end and did research and found lyme. Went to top lyme doc in San Francisco and was clinically diagnosed with lyme.

My blood work came back and is in the mail. The basics are below:

Positive test for bartonella and cd57 count of 20. Lyme was negative and liver counts were fairly high. Doc thinks lyme has been in my system so long that its chronic and won't show on the Igenex test I took.

My questions:

Does anyone have soft tissue pain and little nodules under skin? bone lesions? Also I have severe itching and was wondering if mites could be causing this and the lyme or if it is just the bartonella/lyme wreaking havoc.

Also, does anyone else have similar test results meaning Lyme (clinical diagnosis) Bartonella (positive blood test) and low cd57 markers (20)? I just started Levequin to treat bart first.

Any help would be awesome. Thank you all and soory for the long blurb

Sorry ,I'm not a Bartonella Babe-just a little touched in the head by Lyme.

You'll get good medical advice from your LLMD.
You'll get more than enough opinions, perspectives and support here at Lymenet.

Your symptoms do sound like you're a garden variety Lymie- so welcome to the punch bowl.

Take Care,
Carol

You need to make sure you are addressing possible issues with YEAST also!!! All of the above symptoms could also be from systemic yeast.

DIET, DIET, DIET is the key. Then, be sure to follow the 5 step plan outlined below. It was developed by my naturopath. It works.

Candida diet and elimination:

http://www.wholeapproach.com/diet/
Lyme symptoms list compared with yeast symptoms
http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/Forum1/HTML/021202.html

"Successful control and elminiation of a Candida Albicans overgrowth requires a multifaceted program as described below. Failure to follow ALL the steps simultaneously will result in slow progress and will lengthen healing time significantly. The program should be tailored to the individual and must balance the need to eliminate the Candida and deprive it of its food source while insuring proper nutrition for the individual."

Five Steps to Candida Elimination:

1. You must starve it into submission by eliminating its food source.

2. You must kill it with anti-fungal herbs and supplements. [e.g....garlic, onion, caprylic acid, Pau D'Arco capsules or tea, clove, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract, oil of oregano, tea tree oil, Echinacea, Goldenseal, black walnut, MSM, barberry root, uva ursi, neem leaf, biotin]

3. You must reestablish the proper balance and quantity of probiotic bacteria in the digestive tract. [...multi-strain lactobacillus acidophilus and bifidus capsules with FOS should be taken between meals to maximize repopulation of the digestive tract by beneficial bacteria.]

4. You must reestablish proper levels of all B vitamins (yeast free) and utilize other immune enhancing supplements to boost immune system function. [e.g ... B complex vitamins (yeast free), biotin, beta 1-3 glucan, colostrum, maitake mushroom, vitamins A, C, E, zinc and selenium]

5. You must cleanse and heal the digestive tract to promote proper elimination of toxins and Candida and assimilation of nutrients. [e.g...chlorophyll, MSM, omega 3 fatty acids found in flax seed and salmon oils, GLA found in borage, evening primrose and black currant oils. Pantothenic acid, digestive enzymes between meals]

As Lymetoo said, many of your symptoms sound like a chronic yeast infection. I would talk to your LLMD about this. The tongue symptoms are a huge yeast give away.

I have severe soft tissue pain from Lyme. It seems that muscle pain is a very common bartonella symptom as well.

Congratulations for being on the right track. I know how it feels, after years of being sick, to finally find some answers.

WELCOME ED!*)!*)!
!*)*!)*!)!*)!)!

My husbands name is Ed*)!! Hopefully your doctor evaluated you for yeast as well... I know he is familiar with the pathogenic effects of yeast because he works with HIV/AIDS patients, too. He is a great doc, he saved my life!!! If yeast seems to be a problem that doc has always been great about prescribing anti-yeast things like Diflucan as well!!!

I am glad you are here. All of your symptoms can be caused by Lyme or other TBDs. Levaquin is an appropriate drug for Bartonella.

You are lucky to have such a good doc-
Welcome again*)!*)!!
Sincerely,
