I think the last step to a full recovery for me is to start exercising. For the past month I have been telling myself every day that "Today is the day that I start exercising." But I haven't done it yet [Frown]

So . . . I thought that perhaps there were others out there with the same problem that would like to join me in a daily 30 minute walk. And if I get through the first week, I'll up it to 40 minutes next week. And in 6 months I will look and feel fabulous [Big Grin]

I know that some are too sick for this, but I'm hoping that someone out there is ready to join me. We could e-mail each other and give encouragement.

Anyone?

I'm willing!! I FINALLY began walking again about 6 wks ago. I have no walked for almost a week now and HAVE to get back on it.

It's been one thing or another stopping me. Right now, I'm up to 20-25 minutes. I don't want to overdo it because of sciatic flare ups.

Knock on wood, I haven't had a flare in about 4 months or more. So, I'm getting braver and braver!

I'll walk today if YOU will!! [Razz]

I'll be hitting the pavement right after dinner. Day 1 of many more walking days to come, I hope.

I really think that once I get started, I'll keep going. It's just getting my rear out the door for that first walk.

And it's beautiful here in Maryland today . . . and the Severn River is calm. Beautiful day for a walk.

Thanks for joining me, TuTu!

Oh Yes!! It was getting started that was so hard for me and it was HOT when I began. My husband is an inspiration for me too, because he has been walking for an hour each day and is very committed to it.

I don't usually walk with him because he goes up and down HILLS. [Eek!]

Hubby has already lost 10-15 lbs and many inches!

Me? Not so much! [Big Grin]

PS..It's a gorgeous day here too!

Lou,sure hope your walk went well and you are able to get going on your second day. This Lyme sure can put a hold on activites that one used to do at ease, with lots of pep to spare.

Up till last year I would ride my bike every chance I got, could make 40 to 60 miles and feel good. Even made one trip of 218 miles. Then last summer was to tired to even try. Bike set until last Sunday, made myself ride, a small trip, but I made it.

Like you not wanting to stop walking, I dont wont to get of my bike, and the weather here in Maryland is just eye opening this time of year. Good Luck on you walks!

Hey, I'll walk with you. Meet me between Ky and Maryland. Not far down the road, just a hop skip and jump. I'll buy lunch.

It would be great to have a lyme walking partner.

Pam

Mornin' All!!

Pam, if you're buying lunch, I just might run there! [Smile]

I got up a half hour early today and walked for 25 minutes before going to work. My mind said to push as hard as I could, but my body said slow and steady. My body won.

I am going to try to keep a log (God, I hate doing that tough) and keep track of my time and distance. Then I'll try to do a little better every day.

Is there any way that those that want to walk can check in each day (yes, I think that reporting to you every day will help keep me motivated) without having to keep this thread going?

I'm sure that the slim, trim and fit people don't want to read about my lack of motivation to get off the couch!

PM is great. Hope that others join us, but if not TuTu, we can do it together.

Hey, how about keeping track of distance. You can start at your house and I'll start at mine. We keep track of miles on paper and when we meet in the middle, we'll do something fun!

I think there are SO MANY miles between our houses, so it will take quite awhile, but may keep us motivated.

Lou & Tutu, come on!!! Are you all challenging me to start walking again? I was a walker in 99 when this started and stopped due to fatigue and pain.
That's been my excuse. Not a very good one I know.

Tutu you start walking east and I'll walk in circles like I usually do. Then when you get here between the two of us maybe we can find Lou going to the northeast.

Tomorrow I'm going to walk (straight ahead and back). I'm going to come here and post it. We can start a thread that will posted to the "success stories".

Great idea and motivation lou.

Pam

Darn right we are challenging you, Pam! Tomorrow just put one foot in front of the other and start going.

I walked 30 minutes this morning -- 1.5 miles. So TuTu & Pam, I am that much closer to you.

Making a commitment to the two of you got me out of bed this morning. And I felt better about myself for doing it.

Thanks! [kiss]

Good idea! PM your street address and I'll go to Mapquest and get the distance.

I walked 23 minutes today....I'll have to find out how far my route is.

I'm ready when you are.
