I have read so many articals and postins about lyme and so many of them mention weight loss....now, I have just about every symptom I have read about lyme...so why can't I have that one? [Razz]

It's just NOT FAIR!!! If this darned stuff is going to give me all of these other symptoms, the very LEAST it could do is give me the ONE SYMPTOM I would actually like to have a little of.

Geeze....how frustrating is that? Darned little buggs anyway!!! [dizzy]

Just wait till I catch those things...I have this great mental picture that they each weigh about 1/4 pound apiece, and when I get on antibiotics (provided that is what is wrong with me) [confused]

I am going to remove them from my system and lose that much weight for each one I kill!
Isn't that just a pretty picture. Buggs...dying....1/4 pound for each one gone...and me grinning with each one gone.... [Big Grin]

Ok, I know I'm losing it...just one of those days.... [bonk]

Don't get mad at me, but I have THAT symptom and it really isn't much fun. [Frown]

I have lost over 29 lbs during my first year of treatment. This despite having low thyroid function.

My clothes no longer fit. My family says I look anorexic.

My breasts have really shrunk to nothing. (Thighs are still there though [Big Grin] )

I think part of it is the diet - low carb, low sugar. The other part is babesia.

Trust me, you don't want babesia for weight loss.

Have you had your thyroid function checked?

That may be what is contributing to the extra weight.....

Ain't Lyme lovely? [shake]

Hugs,

Geneal

[Big Grin]

Actually, when I started treatment I lost the extra weight (15 or 20#s) I gained prior.

I'm still not thin but did go back to my normal weight. Now I'd like if another 20 pounds vanished but I'm nto miserable at this weight.

1/4lb per keet? Sounds like a reasonable exchange rate to me! [Big Grin]

I dont think either is much fun (loss/gain)

It seems when lyme hits it does it drastically, I looked like an ethiopian woman at my worst. 89lbs.

Ive gained some back but i still look frail.

I also would suggest getting your thyroid checked.

Stupid lyme [bonk]

I've been on both ends.

Both times I was pregnant I kept losing weight, couldn't gain, couldn't keep any food down, barfed all day and night for six months. It was so scarey.

People told mw how great I looked, and other pregnant women said they wished they looked like me.

I collapsed on the sidewalk in front of a bar once, and nobody would believe I was pregnant, and that I wasn't drunk at 10am.

And now I'm on the other end. When I herx I eat. That's all there is to it.

I don't like either end of the spectrum.

You DON'T want that symptom!!!! REALLY!!!

I had that happen too, people were all, "God you look GREAT!" and I would respond inside going, "Grrrr!!! Yeah, I'm so thin because I can't eat anything without choking and feel intensely nauseous 24-7 and if I DO get somethign down I end up vomiting it up half the time!!!" It SUCKED!!!!!!!!!!!

Glad I have flesh again*)!*~)!!

I wouldn't mind a little of that myself. Don't hold out too much hope for the antibiotics, though. It's when I'm on them that I tend to gain weight. Mostly the biaxin does it because it leaves such a crappy taste in the mouth, and burns the tummy that I just want to eat and eat and eat.....

I understand that Tetra is supposed to make people gain weight, however, my daughter lost about 25 lbs. when on that. My LLMD is putting me on that next month.

You don't want that symptom. Yes, in our society that think sick-thin is beautiful, it seems convenient .... but it's taken me nine months of treatment to get rid of the severe stomach pain I would get after I would eat.

Not only do I not have an appetite, but my teeth hurt from my braces, and I feel pretty good until I eat for the first time in a day ... I have a smoothie for breakfast calories. and latte for more calories, then finally break down and eat for real about 2:30 ... then I would be on the couch for the rest of the day. Fortunately that pain is gone as of about 3 weeks ago, but I still struggle to keep my weight up.

But you are right, everyone tells me how great I look at my lower weight. And, honestly, ALL Lyme symptoms are bad, so I guess this one is better than some others, but it's not as fun as you think.
