I'm going thru custody issues with my ex. the judge ordered a GAL to do investigation. she asked a question that really concerned me

she had gone over a few of my medical records. she asked "So, how long have you been chasing a lyme diagnosis?

CHASING???? are u kidding. she said her husband is a neurologist and said most people who think they have lyme have dx themselves by going on the internet and are probably overstressed and hypochondriacs!!

well. now I'm stressed. she is supposed to make reccomendations to the court about custody. any suggestions on how to deal with her?

2007, how disgusting. downgrading, etc. i'm too speechless, and let me tell you, it's a rare moon when that happens! [cussing]

i believe i put you in contact directly with pj langhoff, who has been going thru child custody 2-3 years. email her for a response!
************************************

my gut reaction when i read that was this:
*****************************************

i am NOT CHASING a lyme diagnosis. The local medical drs. have FAILED me by not listening to my symptoms list, and determining the correct diagnosis based on these facts, blood labs, x-rays, etc. They are hurrying in and out the door and will not give me the time I need to address the major problems I have.

So since the drs. are not fulfilling their DO NO HARM OATH, I've had to resort to going to REPUTABLE medical sites and doing extensive research on my own.

When I have learned of certain things that agree with the symptoms/illnesses I have showing, I come to you drs. for the OFFICIL DIAGNOSIS.

It's time for ALL MDS TO BECOME LYME LITERATE about ticks giving us lyme and many other-co-infections of vector-borne illnesses!

that's the best i can do, and at this time of am!
good luck, and stick up for YOURSELF! i'm pulling for you! [group hug] [kiss]

I would calmly say, "I am not chasing anything. I have a diagnosis of Lyme disease from my doctor."

Do not answer more than she asks. It's one of those traps -- if you know a lot about the disease, you look like a hypochondriac in their eyes. Stick with, "My doctor told me" type statements.

And for what it's worth, her husband is just parroting back what he has heard at neurology medical conferences (i.e. good ol' boy network). He sees patients who are referred to him when they are already sick. He doesn't know them as people.

Sounds like a biased conflict of interest to me.

Point this out to your Attorney. Perhaps he could petition the judge to ask for someone else for evaluation.
