I'm in Florida now (since 11/30) and have had tons more testing and met w/ endocrinologist and neurosurgeon. Thought I'd let everyone here know the latest...I've been thinking of all of you (even if I'm not a lyme patient now)

I met with Dr. Roper (neurosurgeon) Friday morning...also a nice doc like Kennedy. Friday was a LONG DAY!
After driving to Gainesville from Vero Beach (4hrs).....

1. Met with Dr. Roper at 0830am...informed by him and Dr. Kennedy that they are still waiting on the first 2 saliva tests but are planning the surgery for Wednesday morning at this point.

2. Met with Dr. Ropers secretary to schedule all the pre-op stuff...she figured out how to do it Friday instead of next Tuesday.

3. 10:15am - met w/ Dr. Roper CRNA to do history and physical for pre-op.

4. 11:30am - met with anesthesia department for EKG, labs, and pre-op stuff. Informed by anesthesia that I have to have chest xray and be seen at a walk-in clinic for antibiotics since they think I have an upper respiratory infection...I've been coughing and wheezing for 10 days now.

5. 12:15 - 2:00pm - in radiology waiting on xray and to get copy of disk to take to walk-in clinic.

6. 2:00 - 2:45-driving aimlessly around Gainesville to find walk-in clinic. (Keep in mind it is now Friday afternoon on graduation weekend!!!)

7. 2:45 to 6:00 pm - at walk-in clinic where Dr. informs me he is "afraid to treat me". Says I need steroids because of my asthma but not sure what to do since cortisol high. He calls various places to determine what to do. Have to have ANOTHER chest xray done there since they don't have the equipment to look at the disk I brought. He finally decides to put me on cipro and a steroid inhaler for my asthma and tylenol w/ codeine for my cough. (The tylenol #3 is a good thing since they won't let me use my ibuprofen for my back pain and headaches from now to surgery since risk for bleed and already anemic.)

8. 6:00 - 7:00pm - at Walgreens for prescriptions (after calling my insurance company and waiting to see where I can have this filled). During this time my equilibrium goes nuts like it did just before I left Alaska and I start vomiting constantly and feeling very dizzy and pailn in side/back and headache.

7:00 - 2:30am - I decide there is NO WAY I am going to make it a 4 hour drive back to Vero Beach tonight and tell husband it's time to go to ER. I cannot stop vomiting...sit in waiting room FOREVER...finally in room where they give me phenergan which I have a major reaction to...followed by antidote for phenergan and fluids and pain meds. Finally feeling a bit human by 2am, released at 230am after 3 nebulizer treatments for asthma attack as well.

3:30 am - FINALLY find a hotel room with vacancies...didn't want to alarm daughters so we never called them. Pretty much dead before I hit the pillow.

Next morning 8am...4 hour drive back to Vero Beach and then another 1 1/2 hours to park where husband wanted to go camping with his two daughters. Camping for 2 days...out on boat to go fishing today...nauseated the whole time...but just didn't have the heart to tell husband..he was so looking forward to camping and fishing with his kids. I've already ruined enough of his life lately.

Now I am at mother-in-laws...back to Gainesville tomorrow (4 hours) more CT's to rule out possible tumors in chest or abdomen...cross match for blood just in case...and have to be at hospital at 0615am on Wednesday for surgery. Thank goodness for anesthesia...I need a rest!!!

Hope everyone is doing well...thanks for your prayers and thoughts. Tamera

Sending you positive thoughts and prayers.

Thanks, Cobby. I missed that too. Tamera, I sure hope things settle down soon. Sounds miserable.

I thought that you could have a pituitary tumor and not need surgery? Is there a reason they have to remove it....not just give you HGH?

I'm glad they found the problem...that's for sure!
