The last of my bad habits is about to bite the dust. I'm quitting smoking (again).
Yeah, yeah. I know.
This, however, leaves me in somewhat of a quandry.
I can't drink anymore.
I won't use recreational drugs.
Its not like I can increase the amount I swear. Really. I can make sailors blush. And I'm trying to cut down.
Gluttony isn't an option. No appetite.
Sex? Ha! If I had that kind of energy, I'd clean the house.
I was thinking about becoming more creative with my swearing, possibly incorporating the epithets of different cultures and time periods.
This effort would, however, take more brain power than I currently have at my disposal, requiring not only study, but the wits to apply it in an effective and timely manner.
What's a girl to do? I have to have at least one vice. Something has to take the place of my beloved smokey treats.
So, I'm opening the stage to you. All suggestions will be fully appraised and my new bad habit will be announced after an undetermined period of time.
Have at it.... and thanks!

I say a couple of things.
One, reward yourself for every week you go without.
Take the money you would spend on smokes and buy yourself something....
Or save up and get a massage....
Or hire someone to clean your house for you.
I have a few vices. At least I am honest.
One is a coke icee. I know I am not supposed to have it,
But do allow myself one small one a week.
Maybe something small like that (doesn't cause a yeast flare in me yet)
Would help you reward yourself.
Wishing you the best of luck. Drink tons of water.
Helps flush out the nicotine. Also takes about 72 hours for that.
Hugs,
Geneal

If you are married, have your husband clean the house for sex! It's a win-win!
You may have more energy just by not smoking. Working out can be very addictive also. Just start slow. It's easy to over-do it, get tired and sore, and not want to do it again.
Good luck in quitting. Whatever you do, you will be better off for it. Posts: 39 | From NJ | Registered: Feb 2008

Well, fudge was my vice when I was on Mepron! Not real fudge though, just fudge made from almond butter, coconut oil, agave syrup, cacao beans, and vanilla.
Do you like lattes? You could start having decaf lattes.
What about purple nail polish? I usually always have my toenails painted purple.
Sex is good for pain relief ... and the men are happy to do all the work.
You could always acquire an addiction to message boards and chat rooms!

Hi Curiouser,
Ah...vice...a reason to live a times.
BTW, congrats on quitting. I used to smoke too and it was one of my hardest battles ever.
Like others mentioned I had to drink lots of water, chew tons of gum and give up coffee (couldn't drink without a smoke) and had to do something right after meals like walk or do some chores so I wouldn't smoke.
Now, try not to laugh too much but here is my biggest vice currently....
Laying in bed most of the day and reading a fiction novel.
Sometimes when I'm really bad it might be even 2 or 3 days. Yes, you can have benders.
I feel guilty for doing it but it's such a good way of escape for me that sometimes I just can't put the book down.
Sounds like so many of my vices in the past. Oh, just one more, or just a little bit, etc.
Now, it's just one more page, one more chapter...well I'm so close to the end of the book.
I'm sorry. You've just met an online book pusher!

I'm waiting for the day that I'm old enough to sit on my front porch and yell at all the kids coming home from school to "Get a Haircut!!"
or "when I was your age we didn't have buses, we walked to school. uphill in both directions"
or "when I was your age we didn't have global warming. It snowed everyday of the school year and shoes weren't invented yet"
Maybe if you jumped the gun and bought a blue wig, you could start heckling small children now.

Thank you all so much for your suggestions and support!!!
I still haven't lit on a new vice yet. It takes me longer to do/decide things these days.
I'm thinking of taking all your suggestions, writing them down on pieces of paper, and picking at least one out of a hat.
Of course, I'll have to put that on a list so I don't forget.
On the bright side, its now been a week since my last smokey treat! Yay me!
