Hello, I'm new to this as well. Accept I am on here for my mother. Her symptoms started awhile ago and has gotten much worse over the corse of two months or so. She has been to the point were she hasn't been able to walk at all. She went in to the E.R the very first time with leg numbness on both sides and extreme joint pain. Then he put her on a steroid and within a week she couldn't walk. She has spine pain, neck pain, and her head is always very dizzy. She said it feels like her body is burning on the inside. After taking somthing for depression (which she doesn't have normally) She felt as if something burst in her brain. She was admitted into the hospital and nothing was done. No body can find anything. She went to a homiopathic doctor and was told she has Lyme Disease, but since the one test they ran for that came up negative, nobody else will listen to her. She is scheduled to have a spinal tap next wednesday and I don't no what to do. HELP!!???

Thank you very much, I did re-post it. My mom has no other family, I have been trying to help her in all ways possible. No one believes her. Even her close friends think this is somthing in "her head". I just need to get her on the right track.

mymom,

it is no surprise that freinds think its all in your mom's head.....

most family and friends are far from supportive when they have no answers......

I saw you posted in Medical questions and seeking a doctor.....

you should get help in those places....
i'm not familiar with dr's in your area.....

but I'm here if you need to just vent..

.. or have a question that I would try to answer or at least get you to the right person ......

you are at the right place though....
people here know what you and your mother are going through........

if it is Lyme......getting a great doctor and treatment will get your mom better.....

stay strong......
here if ya need me.....

Thanks to the information that I recieved from everyone, My mom was able to get the Western Blot done at our hospital. They would not run it at first even after her regular family doctor ordered it. The hospital said that it's not proticol that the Elisa test is the one they do. I argued with 6 different managers at the hospital and they ran the test. It came up POSITIVE. So now hopefully her family doc will be able to put her on the right meds. He has treated Lyme before.
Thanks again for your caring words, I feel so blessed to have stumbled apon this website.

Don't forget to have your mom tested for co-infections.
