In my nearly two year stuggle to find an answer to my illness.
Before putting the lyme puzzle together,I had nearly convinced myself I had stomach cancer, or hiv.
My pcp nearly convinced me I had crohns disease.
Abdominal pain, and G.I. issues were common, thus I thought stomach cancer.
Then after all test were returning normal, and as my symptoms continued to become more numerous, I'd started thinking hiv, untill that also returned negative.
I'd like to hear if anyone else had nearly convinced themselves they had other illnesses.
or if you knew from day one you had lyme disease.

It took me 6-7 YEARS of researching online before I actually ran on to lyme.
previous to THAT I was half convinced my arthritis and joint issues were caused from 'connective tissue disorder'.
Went to a national leading dr. in that regard,,,he didnt even look twice at me,,,said I couldnt have it cause I had osteo-arthritis and not rheumatoid.
I guess THAT is prerequiste to connective tissue disease,,or so he said,,,also I couldnt bend my arm to meet my face to feed myself with that arm anyway,,,he said fine,,you NEED to lose weight anyway!!
I just thought to myself,,stupid concrete cowboy doc,,,he didnt know anything except for what he specalized in and that is suspect also!!

I thought I had Connective Tissue Disorders, Lupus, MS, Fibromyalgia, CFS, HIV, Valley Fever, Celiac Disease, Sarcoidosis, ALS, Shy Drager's, Encephalitis, Meningitis, Addison's Disease.....the list goes on. I know I'm forgetting some!
What an agonizing journey it's been!!! With all of the above, some of the symptoms fit but with Lyme they ALL fit.
I kept coming across Lyme but kept ruling it out due to negative tests until finally testing positive for Mycoplasma (co-infection) by a new PCP and he referred me to a LLMD despite negative tests for Lyme. I was just diagnosed in December but my tick bite was in 2000. I also had some strange symptoms during childhood and wonder if the bite in 2000 wasn't the first.
