My husband is a professional musician and we just lost a good friend to suicide. He had just been "let go" from his job.

I think they laid off several band members.

This guy was VERY talented. He even played for Ray Stevens at one time and in another show with my husband.

It's just SO SAD. He's from another state so I'm not even sure there will be a memorial service here. I certainly hope there will be!

Please pray for him. His name was Joel.

So tragic...I'm so very sorry for his family and friends. We surely do live in a different world, a harder world, sometimes a non-caring world.

Prayers to his family, and thank you, Lymetoo, for bringing this to our attention, so we can all honor him.

I am so very sorry for your loss....prayers for your friend, his family and you....

It is a difficult thing to understand....to think that he must have felt so hopeless....some of us here I am sure can relate

This is a prayer I posted before....I hope it helps someone

A Prayer for Hope
Dear Lord God, my heavenly Father, I beg you to grant me the gift of hope. My life is dark and full of sorrow. There seems nothing to look forward to but sadness.
Show me that life has duties and many pleasures still waiting for me. Revive within me the desire to live.
Plant hope in my heart, that despair may vanish as the dew before the sun. I know all good things come from you, and you have promised to give them to your children who try to serve you.
Let the hope of happiness in the world, come to brighten my way.
I ask this in Jesus' name.
Amen.

Thank you everybody. Njlymemom... Thanks for the nice prayer. I really need to print that one out for the times I'm too tired to pray my own prayer!

But you know how the Spirit prays FOR us during those times!

My husband really knows how this friend felt, because he has lost a few jobs here in the show business as well.

There aren't many jobs out there, so if you lose one, you're sunk until something else comes along. Hubby has a steady job at a small Christian college here and at our church.

But it's the gigs he really really wants and needs!

Joel had nothing else to rely on. Sad to say, I don't think God played a big role in his life. VERY sad for us to think about.

Thanks again, everyone. It's appreciated.

So sorry for your loss, Lymetoo.

I'm praying that Joel's family and friends will find peace...And I'm praying for Joel's peace as well.

It's so tragic that he felt so desperate.

NJlymemom - that is a beautiful prayer. Keep posting it from time to time as I'm sure it helps someone each time.
