Getting bit by a tick doesn't mean you have lyme disease.

But it doesn't hurt to be careful. From what I've heard and read, if you catch it quickly and treat it quickly, you can often avoid a longterm or serious illness.

Is there a rash or mark at all where you got bitten? If so, you may be able to get a doctor to prescribe you three weeks of Doxycycline. Perhaps your wife's lyme doctor would give you a prescription without a visible rash.

After taking the Doxy, you may want to get tested by IGeneX for lyme and coinfections. I'd wait to get tested until after taking the antibiotics, to give your antibodies a chance to build up.

Watch for any symptoms and keep us posted.

Sorry to say that Lonestar ticks can and do carry Lyme.

All ticks can.

You need to get a Rx for doxycycline for at least 300mg for 4-6 weeks.

I would call your wife's LLMD and ask what they would recommend.

Good news is if you catch it early you stand a very good chance of being cured.

If you treat quickly and aggressively.

I would insist on the antibiotics. No sense in taking the chance.

I never had a rash and never saw a tick on me.

Hugs,

Geneal
