Someone please tell me that this insomnia will get better after treating bart?! I just need a good pep talk right now. Getting discouraged.
(p)
I am trying to stop taking Ambien, which has caused me to "sleep eat" and have hallucinations sometimes. Although I sleep really well on it.
(p)
Now I am taking Klonopin and NOT sleeping. Lunesta gives me the horrible side effect of a noxious taste in my mouth.
(P)
Does anyone have any suggestions that I can ask my LLMD about? I have been on Ambien for 8 months now and this is a nightmare trying to quit.
(p)
Thanks in advance for your suggestions or morale boost!

Mine got better, but got worse again when I started doxycycline recently.

Maybe you could try another drug to replace Ambien. You need your sleep to get better. My LLMD tells me we'll worry about getting me off the Ambien when I get well.

I had gotten to the point where I would sleep through the whole night with half an Ambien, but I'm back to insomnia even after taking it since starting the doxy.

Bart is a major culprit of the insomnia. Also Levaquin, are you taking that? I've just learned that Levaquin blocks GABA receptors which is what we need to fall asleep, thus causing insomnia. Mine has been quite terrible and we may have to resort to Xyrem (the date rape drug/sledgehammer).

Try 5HTP. It's working for me!

Neurotin makes me feel horrible in the morning.

That is 1/2 of a pill.

I take two advil Pm's.

I just started with early wakening (anywhere from 3:00 am to 4:30 am).

I am pretty sure I have to go after the bart again.

Also tons of anxiety issues (again). [shake]

My husband takes lunesta. I really don't want to be on anything like that.

I am going to wait and see if repeat bartonella treatment helps the sleep.

In the meantime, with two small children, Thank God for coffee! [Big Grin]

Hugs,

Geneal

Hi there!

Like you I took Ambien and Ambien CR for quite awhile. I started to do funky things with little recall of doing them so this isn't the drug of choice for me.

I've been taking generic Zanaflex 4mg. at night which works great for me.

It's a muscle relaxant with I believe an added sleep preparation.

If I wake up during the night I'll take an additional 1/4 and have no problems going back to sleep.

It doesn't appear to interfer with dreams either because I still have nightmares.

I usually get 8 hours of sleep on it.

Sweet dreams! [sleepy]

Geneal... That advil will eventually do you in. The ibuprofen will eat the lining of your stomach.

Why not try 5HTP or melatonin? I take both. They are found at the health food store or online at Vitacost.

Hey.....

I have to say that I had always expected Bart as a BIG part of my problem...and when I finally talked my LLMD into LONGterm Rifampin...

I am getting a lot better...I don't get upset at anything anymore...seriously mellow. Its awesome. [Wink]

We take Melatonin and 5HTP all the time here.

My girls are getting treated for Bart and doing wonderful now.

The older one a little better than our younger.

They have torn up the track this year with sports and continue to work out...a KEY component to getting the endorphins up and helping with coping.

Good Luck.....
