I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago with Lyme. Only had a bad headach down my neck and shoulders that wouldn't go away when my doc ran the WB test. Started taking doxy, which was prescribed for 3 weeks.
I don't remember getting bit by a tic or having the "bullseye". I've been reading alot on this site and must say it is both helpful and scary at the same time.
I'm glad I found this site. I've been so confused.
My doc is unsure how long I've had Lyme and is sending me to an ID doc next week. Not sure what to expect. Can doxy cure this?? Posts: 18 | From Mount Airy Maryland | Registered: May 2008

3 weeks of doxy won't cure this, even if caught very early.
avoid the ID duck. for the most part they do not treat lyme adequately and don't do co-infections.
go to the seeking a doctor forum and post what you said in this post about your history.
in the title post your state and nearest large city.
keep in mind that many have to travel a way to get adequate treatment. since you caught this early it should be easier to treat.
good luck, and welcome to lymenet.

My opinion? No, 3 weeks doxy, especially if the dose is only 100mg 2xdaily is not enough.
Depending on the dose, it is probably just enough to make you feel a little better when actually the buggers have just gone underground, or into hiding.
And when they do re-emerge no one will make the connection back to LYme Disease.
Look at Dr. B's guidelines on how to hit Lyme disease with both barrels.
Two years after my initial diagnosis when I was undertreated, I was debilitated to the point I am now on disability.
All because I wasted over a year going to "specialists" for everything but LYme.
I did not , however, go to an ID doc, so I cannot comment on their take on Lyme disease-some good some bad I've heard.

Begin your search for a real dr. MOST ID doctors don't know squat about lyme disease, but the sad thing is that they think they know everything about it.
You also should be tested for coinfections. The ID dr won't be willing to do that either.
You're very welcome here. Keep reading so you'll be educated!! Knowledge is power when it comes to beating Lyme!!
