Talk about sticking your foot in your mouth....

While in the grocery store tonight I had gone all the way in the back of the store and was nearly done shopping. I'd been in there every bit of an hour (months worth of shopping) and was getting worn out.

A person approached me and I noted their cart was nearly empty. Mine was so full it was hard to push.

I had just been reading the prices on a shelf and had taken my close up glasses off. I was searching for my walking around glasses so I could see the cart in front of me and a bit beyond.

The person came closer and said hi. I couldn't tell at that point if it was a man or woman as I just couldn't see them. The only way I knew it was even a person was because they were inside the store, moving, and spoke to me.

I smiled and said hello... still searching for my glasses.

Keep in mind... When I went in the store there were storm clouds building fast and a few drops of rain were hitting the ground... but it wasn't too impressive.

Figures too... less than 1/10 inch of rain in 4 months and all of it when I had to bring home groceries each month in the back of an open pick up truck. Anyhow...

Wondering if the storm had blown over or it continued to rain while I was inside all that time... I said...

"I see you just came in... is it raining outside now?

About that time I got my glasses on and focused on the person.

I saw a horrified look come across the ladies face. I thought hmmmmmm... what's that about?

She rubbed her hair and reached across her body with one hand and tugged on the shoulder of her shirt to sort of pull it away from her skin.

She said... "oh no! I didn't know it was that noticable!"

She then said.... as I kind of squinted and thought... what is she talking about?

"No, it's not rain! I've just left the gym and I've been sweating! That's why I am soaking wet, but I was hoping it wasn't that noticeable!"

Tincup, Tincup, Tincup.

How NICE of me to embarrass that poor soul!

Why didn't I just say...

"Are your kids as ugly as you?"

[Roll Eyes]

I spent the next 5 minutes trying to convince her she didn't look sloppy wet... or awful... it was that I just couldn't see that was the problem.

Of course there had been NO rain and no trace of it other than those few drops long before she got to the store.. so I guess she really didn't believe me.

So much for being social and making new friends!

[Eek!]

Dear Tincup,

You are so funny!

I have the "open mouth insert foot" agenda going too.

Hugs,

YIKES!

It turns out I didn't get a months worth of groceries! I usually do but this time I got a couple weeks worth because I wanted to empty my stock in the freezer and fridge in case I headed north and had to cut off the fridge here.

Nothing worse than having to carry refrigerated foods or frozen foods in a cooler for several days in the heat. It doesn't work well.

Soooooo.. now I find I am in need of another trip to the store. I'd almost rather throw my stuff in the truck and head north than go to the grocery store again.

MAYBE I will? If not.. PLEASE don't let me run into that poor woman again! If she ever leaves the house again!
